Job Description:

Using a variety of industry standard tools and protocols, the Digital Forensic Analyst assists law firms and corporations in designing and carrying out data collection strategies to identify and forensically collect electronic documents quickly and efficiently for the purposes of electronic discovery.  The Digital Forensic Analyst will perform forensic collections of data on a multitude of digital media devices and data types.  This is a client-facing position that requires a solid technical and consulting skillset.  The position is hybrid, on-site and remote.

Job Responsibilities

  • Candidate must be able to function in a variety of office environments as well as an occasional non-standard environment such as a laboratory, warehouse or hotel room.
  • Work with clients to create a data collection protocol that can be triggered when litigation is pending or imminent.
  • Create and execute specialized data collection plans.
  • Assess client information assets in a networked environment to determine where evidence may reside.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with external clients, attorneys and IT personnel, as well as internal sales, production, and project management personnel in order to ensure client requirements are met.
  • Follow proper evidence media handling and chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Document procedures and findings of each case and enter into project management system.
  • Create and provide comprehensive reports to the client based on their needs.
  • Effectively problem-solve and troubleshoot in response to issues that may arise.
  • Research, utilize and maintain proficiency in advanced methods, tools, and trends in data collection, digital forensics and e-discovery.
  • Research, test, and recommend various software and hardware products.
  • Assist in preparing affidavits to be used in both lay and expert witness testimony in court, as needed.
  • Assist Digital Forensic Consultant team members, as needed.

Required Qualifications & Characteristics

  • Proven ability to communicate and convey technical information effectively and concisely to a wide variety of audiences including clients, attorneys, and IT professionals.
  • Requires strong multi-tasking, organizational, writing, briefing, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and effectively manage time to meet strict deadlines and time constraints.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using EnCase, FTK, and other industry standard software and tools to perform Data Collections.
  • Hands-on experience with write-blocking devices and a wide range of other digital forensic hardware and tools.
  • Experience and knowledge of computer and mobile device hardware, network architecture, operating systems, file types, and e-mail systems (corporate and web-based).
  • Experience collecting from PC and Apple computers, mobile devices, network file servers, and corporate e-mail systems (e.g. Exchange, Google Vault, Microsoft 365, etc.).
  • Qualified examiners are required to maintain current knowledge of industry standards and practices.
  • Ability to plainly communicate the differences, options and most desirable data collection, digital forensics, and data recovery methodologies given a certain factual scenario.
  • Good technical report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of DOS, Windows, MAC and UNIX preferred.
  • Minimum of two to three years professional hands-on experience with electronic data collection related to e-discovery or law enforcement desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field is strongly preferred. #LI-Remote #LI-RC1
