The Staff Systems Administrator/Engineer works under limited supervision and will perform manual activities as well as automated activities commensurate with their experience that ensure FINRA data centers meet defined quality standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Review and analyze process and system specifications to ensure delivery requirements are met.
  • Designs, implements, customizes, maintains and administers operating systems and system software products.
  • Tests and implements operating systems and system software updates and patches.
  • Monitors operating system performance to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Document test plans, as well as, create/revise and execute scripts.
  • First line testing and analysis for post production deployments, equipment, and infrastructure setup.
  • Perform field level hardware repairs and upgrades
  • Champion the collaborative resolution of defects. Work across the organization to develop solutions that meet joint requirements.
  • Lead/Co-lead internal project/program level process improvement initiatives. Provide feedback on processes by offering suggestions.
  • Informally mentor more junior staff.
  • Assist with adherence to technology policies and comply with all security controls.
  • Ensure all work products meets/exceeds FINRA standards.
  • Participate in periodic Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) testing and reporting.
  • Perform day to day operational duties, including data intake, data processing, and hosting for business review.
  • Monitor business demand, special requests, and risk(s) to daily operations.
  • Assist managers and leadership with reporting on metrics and levels of business compliance.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain documentation for standard operating procedures and operational workflow.
  • Requirements: eDiscovery experience processing various data formats, running exception resolution, and knowledge of legal eDiscovery technology tools.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least three (3) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience.
  • Past systems administrator experience in a production data center environment.
  • Knowledge of industry leading monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Knowledge of at least one operating system and at least one contemporary scripting language.
  • Knowledge of communication and network technologies.
  • Exposure to common operational practices like metrics reporting, change management, incident management, problem management and communication ITIL & ISO:9000 framework experience/certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships that improved the quality of work products.
  • Should be well organized, thorough, and able to handle competing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is normally performed in an office environment or in a datacenter.
  • Occasional lifting may be required.
  • Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.
  • On-call duties (on a rotational basis) may be required.

In addition to location, actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.

CA: Minimum Salary $94,200, Maximum Salary $176,000

CO/HI/MN/VT*: Minimum Salary $81,900, Maximum Salary $146,600

IL*: Minimum Salary $90,100, Maximum Salary $161,300
Jersey City, NJ/NYC, NY: Minimum Salary $98,300, Maximum Salary $176,000

MA/WA: Minimum Salary $81,900, Maximum Salary $168,600

MD/Washington, DC: Minimum Salary $94,200, Maximum Salary $168,600
NJ State: Minimum Salary $90,100, Maximum $176,000

NY State: Minimum Salary $81,900, Maximum Salary $176,000

*Including positions performed outside the state but reporting to an office or manager in that state.

Time Off and Paid Leave*
