Job Description Summary

We have an opening for a Senior Paralegal in our New York office.

The Senior Paralegal applies knowledge of the litigation lifecycle and its associated procedure to provide fundamental assistance to lawyers.

Job Description

In this capacity, the Senior Paralegal will:

  • Perform work in an efficient and cost-effective manner so as to permit the Firm to reasonably collect fees for such work;
  • Meet expectations of billable hours target of 1,725 (unless otherwise specified);
  • Under the supervision of an attorney, coordinate, organize, prepare and interpret complex legal documents;
  • Organize, review, and maintain documents and case files in hard copy and electronic;
  • Interface with eDiscovery vendors to create, maintain and manage document collection for review;
  • Coordinate productions of documents with attorneys, as well as conduct searches on e-discovery databases for relevant documents;
  • Assist attorneys with preparation of materials for depositions and coordinate logistics as needed;
  • Conduct factual research on internal and external databases and libraries;
  • Properly format legal briefs and motions; cite check legal briefs and motions to ensure consistency with sources cited and proper citation style (Bluebook and/or California Style Manual);
  • Proofread, edit and review legal briefs and motions in preparation of filing;
  • Assist with compiling documents for filing with courts and agencies; efile and print legal briefs, motions and other related documents and provide copies to relevant parties;
  • Coordinate trial preparation; attend trial and provide support to attorneys at Court; coordinate logistics, including local/remote set-up and travel arrangements;
  • Support multiple case teams/matters simultaneously;
  • Partner and coordinate with internal resources and outside vendor services;
  • Coordinate with other areas/departments of the Firm where overlap exists to develop efficient procedures/communications to streamline processes and satisfy various department needs;
  • Work overtime as required; travel as required, and
  • Handle additional related projects as assigned.

Proficiencies:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Outlook and web-based conference call/web-sharing applications;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word and document editing/comparison applications;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and spreadsheet/database applications;
  • Advanced proficiency in online research and internet search resources (LexisNexis/Westlaw), as well as utilizing PACER, CM/ECF, and other electronic court and agency databases;
  • Strong knowledge of and familiarity with litigation procedures and terminology;
  • Strong knowledge of relevant jurisdictional/court/agency processes and procedures;
  • Strong proficiency with cite checking and bluebooking;
  • Strong proficiency with timekeeping and expense reporting applications; and
  • Strong knowledge of legal billing processes.

Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of Litigation Paralegal experience (required);
  • Arbitration/trial experience (required);
  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited program (preferred); and
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).

 

 

 

 

The salary wage range for New York that we expect to pay for this position is a minimum of $101,500 and a maximum of $140,000 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors.
