The Opportunity

We are looking for a strategic Senior Manager, eDiscovery to join our Digital Legal Delivery team. This role can be based in our Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth offices.

In this role you will play a key part in delivering eDiscovery services and client-facing leadership, ensuring continuous team development and excellence in service delivery.

The role will require a process-minded individual with experience leading an eDiscovery team.  An ability to help deliver a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented, technically excellent individuals and to win trust and to collaborate with partners, associates and others across the organisation will be imperative.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Delivering advanced technical solutions, highlighting predictive coding and other analytics features to the global business.

  • Continuing to improve best practice eDiscovery processes including adopting new technology.

  • On boarding new technology and delivering those at a global scale.

  • Collaborating with leaders on the development of business strategy and implementation.

  • Assisting and enabling internal stakeholders to work effectively with document review software, legal technology solutions and other related IT systems.

  • Leadership.

  • Financial Management.

  • Risk Management.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Strong IT literacy, including an aptitude for learning (and becoming proficient in) the use of new and innovative software and IT applications.

  • 10 years+ experience in managing contentious eDiscovery matters with an end to end eDiscovery focus.

  • Commercially astute with a demonstrable track record as a business leader.

  • Proven skills in business growth and planning, able to spot and develop business opportunities.

  • People management skills in a law firm or commercial legal environment managing senior  staff and other staff in and out of region.

  • Experience resourcing, project managing and motivating teams to tight deadlines.

  • High level of attention to detail, but can also step back from the detail and see problems, opportunities and trends.

  • Strong creative and analytical ability, coupled with sound judgment to balance multiple factors and solve complex problems.

  • Deep understanding on project scoping, costing and planning.

  • In depth understanding of Australian court and regulatory production requirements and protocols.

  • Experience working within a similar team at a comparable level.

  • Experience in managing a large team with direct reports.

  • Experience in thinking out of the box to create bespoke solutions.

  • Proficiency in applications such as Ringtail, Relativity, Nuix, iPro or similar, to support the junior team.

  • Proficiency in manipulating data on Excel and/or Access to support the junior team.

  • Excellent understanding of the legal framework of eDiscovery, existing protocols, practices and relevant legal standards.

  • A sound knowledge of eDiscovery software market and technology advancements.
