Salary:  $92,000 - $100,000

Position Overview: 

We are seeking a Senior Litigation Paralegal. This role prepares legal documents, correspondence and timelines under the direction of attorney(s). Coordinate and track case activities. Develop and implement appropriate systems for collecting and organizing case materials. Observe confidentiality of client and firm matters. This position supports attorneys who practice in civil litigation, and may include supporting additional practice areas, such as: insurance coverage, environmental, construction defect, intellectual property, plaintiff litigation and collections. This position requires 1,400 billed hours annually and has the potential for remote work up to 2 days per week, based on business need.


Responsibilities of Senior Litigation Paralegal:

"Essential functions" are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

  • Select, implement and maintain appropriate systems for collecting and organizing case materials.
  • Review and analyze case materials, including correspondence, pleadings and other case documents and records; undertake all aspects of evidence management.
  • Draft and prepare a variety of legal documents, correspondence, chronologies and indices.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of exhibits and witness files for depositions, arbitration, mediation and trial.
  •  Manage eDiscovery database, discovery and production for litigation cases. 
  • Interact with clients, experts and other parties to obtain and provide information.
  • Establish and maintain database (document and discovery) structure and criteria, if appropriate.
  • Use timekeeper software to appropriately bill for all time worked.
  • Position involves recurring work situations with occasional variation from the normal to a high degree of complexity. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Overtime may be required during periods of heavy workload.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and database capabilities. Experience with Chrome River, LiquidFiles, Westlaw OnePass, CourtTrax, ExpertTime, DM, NetDocs, Kofax or Power PDF, or similar technology, is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with eDiscovery. General knowledge of Everlaw, NextPoint, or similar eDiscovery platform. 
  • Experience preparing and attending trial, including trial, hearing, and mediation/arbitration preparation. 
  • Substantial knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.
  • Knowledge of case economics and case management techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be proactive and critically assess cases needs and manage a case from beginning to end.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and assist attorney(s) in coordination of team efforts and preparation during the course of litigation.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

  • Required: Associate or undergraduate degree and/or Paralegal Certificate or experience demonstrating required skills. 
  • Required: 10+ years of litigation paralegal experience

Salary Range and Benefits: 

$92,000 - 100,000 – This salary range is dependent upon a variety of factors, which include but are not limited to the following: the candidate’s relevant experience, skill level, and demonstrated ability to perform all of the essential functions of the position as well as ability to perform functions which would arise from the needs of the position or as assigned, and all of the qualifications listed in the job description. WORKING CONDITIONS: 

This position is capable of working partially remote, based on the needs of the attorneys and clients. The need to be in the office cannot be predicted as the work assigned will be based on multiple factors. When in the office, it is a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Travel outside the office may be necessary occasionally.


Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; frequently operates a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer; frequently works under deadlines; occasionally needs to move about the office to access file cabinets, machinery, etc.
