The Senior FOIA Analyst will Serve as the on-site lead responsible for managing the intake, analysis, coordination, and response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests. Ensure all activities comply with deadlines, Department of Commerce policies, and applicable federal regulations, including the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). Lead process improvement, reporting, and privacy compliance efforts to streamline operations and maintain transparency.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the end-to-end processing of FOIA and Privacy Act requests.
· Assign and oversee daily tasks for FOIA/Privacy Analysts.
· Ensure request responses comply with deadlines and applicable exemptions.
· Serve as primary point of contact for daily operations and client communication.
· Review and propose revisions to System of Records Notices (SORNs) to maintain Privacy Act compliance.
· Deep knowledge of FOIA, Privacy Act, and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements.
· Own key project deliverables, including the Project Management Plan, Quality Control Plan, and detailed Progress Reporting on request status and volume.
· Excellent communication and coordination skills with internal teams and clients.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
· 2+ years of project management, including team oversight and contract coordination.
· 1+ year of FOIA/PA experience or 3+ years as a paralegal handling records and determinations.
Preferred:
· 5+ years in FOIA/PA request management in a federal or legal setting.
· 2+ years using FOIA automation or eDiscovery tools.
· FOIA/Privacy Act Training Certificate from the U.S. Department of Justice or equivalent program.
