Regional Investigations and Monitoring Lead EU & LATAM

  • Location: Brazil or France.

About the job:

Within the Ethics & Business Integrity (EB&I) department, the Regional Investigations and Monitoring Lead EU & LATAM is responsible for managing ethical complaints and their subsequent investigations, and to manage Sanofi’s investigations program.  As part of the 2030 Ethics and Business Integrity strategic roadmap, the Regional Investigations and Monitoring Lead EU & LATAM is responsible for implementing and overseeing investigative activity and the deployment of the global strategy across the regions. The role may on occasion work, if required with other regions outside of this scope. Regional Investigations and Monitoring Lead EU & LATAM must have clear direction, leadership, and the ability to ensure effective investigations and reporting for the successful execution of the Sanofi’s Compliance Program.

Main responsibilities:

  • This role will be responsible for being the single point of contact for all EBI alerts/complaints made within the EU & LATAM regions and work closely with the Regional EBI Employee Investigations lead  

  • The role will report into the Global Head of Organizational Justice and Smart Assurance (skip) and the Global Head of Investigations (directly) and will also be a Regional Organizational Justice Champion and help lead on development of training, communication, and support on this with the local Ethics and Business Integrity teams. Creating content for delivery to the business for shared learning and knowledge related to investigations, monitoring and assurance activities /findings.

  • The individual will be expected to co-ordinate and conduct comprehensive and objective internal investigations of alleged misconduct including instances of reported unethical or illegal practices, violation of company policies, or breach of legal and regulatory requirements

  • The individual will also be responsible for conducting complex, sensitive and potentially high-risk investigations including interviewing witnesses, gathering, and analyzing records, reaching conclusions, and as needed, conducting a root cause analysis to ensure appropriate corrective action is identified, to protect the assets and interests of the company (broadly defined as people, products, intellectual property, and property/operations).

  • The individual will oversee and coordinate the activities of third-party vendors that conduct investigations on behalf of Sanofi in the region (such as outside counsel or external investigative services firms).

  • The individual will ensure that investigation strategies, timelines and ways of working are aligned with Sanofi standards and expectations

  • The role will also be responsible for analyzing investigative findings to facilitate the tightening and improvement of business processes and to mitigate further risk to Sanofi. Review draft investigation reports prior to their submission to Corporate and their release.

  • Engage Compliance Monitoring of Business Activities, Medical Events and Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, Digital Monitoring and Field Visits as and when requested by management.

Key Responsibilities and KPIs:

  • Ability to manage and conduct multiple investigations of varying complexity in a timely, objective, impartial and fair manner

  • Shape strategies for investigations while ensuring these are conducted in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidance.

  • Be able to prioritize multiple investigations, investigative tasks, and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining positive collaborative relations with various senior stakeholders

  • Create a network of key internal stakeholders including local affiliate E&BI Officers, HR, Internal Control, Audit, Security and Legal and external counsel, for when conducting legally privileged investigations

  • Responsible for meeting overall performance targets and savings.

  • Integrate process digitalization and automation in Investigation

  • Identify trends, emerging risks, and insights regarding fraud, misconduct, anti-bribery and corruption, harassment, and discrimination investigations

  • Prepare and deliver written summaries and professionally written investigative reports incorporating all evidence required to prove or disprove investigative findings and identify causal factors to facilitate corrective and preventative action plans

  • Conduct briefings with the Global Head of Organizational Justice and Smart Assurance and/or relevant regional management as appropriate.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant external stakeholders, industry forums and potentially including local and regional law enforcement authorities

  • Maintain strict discretion and confidentiality

About you
 

Experience: Conducting corporate investigations with a significant period spent in the Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical industries and related investigations. Audit or consulting experience with Big 4 Audit Firm and/or in the Pharmaceuticals Industry. Preferably has Professional designations such as CFE, CPA, CIA, CCEP.

Proven experience leading and managing complex investigations and related processes, some of which included bribery, corruption, healthcare compliance, fraud and/or white-collar investigations in a government, law firm and/or corporate setting, both in a multi-functional team and individually.

Experience in using and managing e-Discovery platform/s, data analytics, and forensic investigations

Experience of working in diverse markets with first-hand experience and awareness of the cultural and geopolitical nuances.

Strong understanding of Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical company policies and processes

  • Demonstrated good analytical, decision-making and project management skills.

  • High level of attention to detail/accuracy

  • Good collaboration and communication skills

  • Must be highly and effectively organized, flexible, self-starter, team oriented, and capable of multi-tasking.

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills.

  • Willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice, as required

  • Ability to operate and deliver under pressure.

  • Sound judgment and commitment to ethical conduct

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to (i) understand and analyse complex scenarios (ii) propose solutions that support the relevant business objectives coupled with ethical considerations and (iii) conflict management

  • Ability to organize, coordinate and motivate cross-functional teams

  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and still meet high quality and timeliness standards under pressure.

Education: University degree or equivalent diploma in Criminal Justice, Law, Law Enforcement, Forensic accounting, or related field of study preferred.

Languages: Proficient in English written and spoken and another regional language(s) preferred e.g. Spanish, Portuguese or French.
