Job Description

Zendesk develops software that helps its 160,000+ paid customer accounts across more than 150 countries and territories to build the best customer experience. As a CX company, we are at the forefront of the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning technology, and we will do so in line with strict yet wide-ranging and evolving legal and ethical standards. At Zendesk we’re on a mission to simplify the complexity of business and make it easy for companies and customers to create connections. We show companies how to unlock the power of everyday customer interactions so they can make those experiences extraordinary.

And you know what? This work is important, because we’re all customers. We believe life is a little bit better when the customer experiences we all share are painless, frictionless, and more helpful.

We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our world-class legal team and support the evolving and impactful Litigation and Global Employment Legal functions. As a Litigation and Global Employment Legal Paralegal at Zendesk, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our worldwide dispute resolution and employment matters. This is a highly visible, hands-on position where you’ll partner closely with our litigation and global employment legal teams, engage with stakeholders across multiple regions, and manage matters that span jurisdictions. You’ll be at the center of coordinating investigations, litigation, and compliance processes, while also helping track budgets and ensuring efficient use of resources. If you’re looking for an opportunity to make a global impact in a fast-moving, collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you.

This role will report directly to the VP, Legal Global Employment, who is based out of our San Francisco, CA offices.

Key Responsibilities (what you get to do every day):

  • Partner with Zendesk’s litigation counsel to support dispute resolution matters worldwide, including court proceedings, arbitrations, regulatory inquiries, and related matters.

  • Collaborate with the Global Employment Legal (GEL) team to help manage pre-litigation employee disputes and workplace investigations across multiple regions.

  • Drive the early stages of case preparation by reviewing, collecting, and analyzing documents and evidence to inform strategy.

  • Prepare case chronologies, matter summaries, and supporting documentation to help litigation and employment counsel evaluate risk and develop strategies.

  • Act as a central point of contact between internal teams, external counsel, and global stakeholders—including HR/ER, Finance, Compliance, Privacy, and IT—to ensure seamless coordination and communication.

  • Manage intake and triage of internal legal tickets for both litigation and GEL, ensuring matters are tracked and addressed efficiently.

  • Oversee the subpoena response process in compliance with U.S. law, including document review, use of e-discovery tools, and preparation of productions.

  • Administer the global legal hold process, including issuance, tracking, reminders, and release.

  • Maintain well-organized case files and leverage case management tools to track deadlines, milestones, and case progress.

  • Track and help manage team budgets, including spend for outside counsel and other litigation- and employment-related matters.

  • Develop and enhance global employment legal templates, playbooks, process documentation, and reporting dashboards.

  • Coordinate the selection, engagement, and management of outside counsel worldwide.

Requirements (what you bring to the role):

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or a Paralegal Certificate/Associate’s degree from an approved program.

  • You bring at least 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm and 2+ years in-house. Significant litigation experience is required; employment law experience is a plus.

  • You are highly organized and have excellent attention to detail.

  • You communicate clearly, know how to articulate a problem, and can effectively gather facts from a wide range of cross-functional team members.

  • You are accountable, proactive, hands-on, and results-oriented—even in a remote environment with colleagues spread across different offices and time zones.

  • You have experience in legal research, organization, drafting, and negotiation, and you exercise good judgment in knowing when to escalate issues.

  • You are proficient in legal research tools and case management software.

  • You’re ready to roll up your sleeves, embrace a growth mindset, and take on tasks big and small with curiosity and a desire to learn.

  • You bring a positive attitude and work effectively as part of a team.

  • You are committed to Zendesk’s core values: being customer-focused, innovative, and dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.

  • You act with integrity, courage, and empathy—and you don’t lose your sense of humor along the way.
