POSITION SUMMARY:

The Microsoft Teams & SharePoint Administrator is responsible for the strategic administration, architecture, and optimization of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive environments. This role ensures enterprise-wide collaboration, security, and compliance while driving adoption of Microsoft 365 solutions. The administrator serves as a technical leader, collaborating with IT leadership, security teams, and business units to develop scalable solutions that enhance productivity and data governance.

In addition to managing daily operations and troubleshooting complex issues, the administrator is responsible for mentoring junior team members, driving automation initiatives, and leading the implementation of new features and integrations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Administration:

  • Architect, configure, and manage Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise applications.

  • Collaborate with business units to customize SharePoint solutions, enhancing team collaboration and workflow efficiency.

  • Oversee site architecture, governance, security policies, permissions, and lifecycle management for collaboration tools.

  • Monitor performance analytics, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system efficiency.

Technical Leadership & Automation:

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME), providing guidance to IT teams and business stakeholders on Microsoft 365 best practices.

  • Assist in system design, planning, and execution of SharePoint and Teams updates, migrations, and enhancements.

  • Lead automation initiatives using PowerShell, Power Automate, and scripting tools to enhance system efficiency.

Security & Compliance:

  • Manage user access, permissions, and security controls to maintain data integrity and regulatory compliance.

  • Monitor, respond to, and mitigate security risks in coordination with IT Security and Compliance teams.

  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and system resilience for SharePoint and Microsoft Teams environments.

  • Develop and enforce compliance policies in alignment with HIPAA, DLP, eDiscovery, and enterprise security standards.

User Support, Training & Adoption:

  • Provide Tier 3 support, resolving escalated issues and troubleshooting complex system problems.

  • Develop and deliver training programs, technical documentation, and user guides to drive adoption and best practices.

Project Management & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead Microsoft 365-related projects, including migrations, integrations, and performance optimizations.

  • Analyze usage trends, recommend enhancements, and ensure continuous improvement of collaboration tools.

  • Work cross-functionally with network admins, system analysts, and software engineers to resolve integration challenges.

  • Actively participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings to assess the impact of system updates and changes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) required

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • None required.

  • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, or Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of experience focused on Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint administration (including 2003/2010/2013) required; 6+ years of experience preferred. Experience must include: installing and configuring large server farm topologies - applying patches, service packs, and infrastructure updates required.

  • Experience leading or mentoring junior team members.

  • Proven experience managing enterprise-level collaboration tools, governance policies, and security best practices.

  • Experience leading adoption initiatives and training end-users on Microsoft 365 tools

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Expertise in Microsoft Teams & SharePoint Online, including governance, automation, and security.

  • Strong understanding of data compliance regulations (HIPAA, NIST, GDPR) and enterprise security frameworks.

  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for system automation and bulk management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across business and IT teams.

  • Strong background in PowerShell scripting, automation, and M365 integrations.
