Job Summary

The Legal Counsel – Litigation and Investigations is responsible for supporting Equinix’s litigation, investigation, and dispute resolution work in the United States and Canada.

Equinix seeks a Legal Counsel - Litigation and Investigations to support its growing portfolio of litigation, investigation, and dispute resolution matters in the United States and Canada.  This role ideally will be based in Dallas or Toronto, although we may be able to consider an exceptional candidate in certain other locations.


Responsibilities 

  • Case management, including developing overall strategy, selecting and managing outside counsel, assisting with review and management of budgets, assessing and quantifying liability, and reviewing and preparing filings

  • Support or manage discovery in assigned matters, including by handling written discovery responses, third-party subpoenas, depositions, and document collection and production efforts

  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with stakeholders in the legal department and throughout the company

  • Navigate competing workflows, set appropriate priorities with internal clients and outside counsel, and deliver results within agreed timelines

  • Contribute to thought leadership on litigation and investigation best practices, including with respect to eDiscovery management, disputes and enforcement trends, and risk assessments

  • Think creatively and devise solutions to challenging problems, including by making and articulating determinations regarding risks and benefits

  • Exercise mature and reliable judgment while enjoying Equinix’s enthusiastic, informal environment

  • Be willing to develop new areas of expertise and work on a wide variety of projects to support a lean and highly efficient legal team

 

Qualifications  

  • J.D. from an accredited law school

  • 2-6  years of relevant law firm, government, or in-house experience working on litigation and investigation matters

  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, including demonstrated experience leading strategic decision-making and obtaining concurrence from impacted stakeholders

  • Experience managing large-scale eDiscovery

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex, fast-paced workload and prioritize projects to meet internal/external deadlines

  • Experience with data centers/telecommunications services is a plus

  • Familiarity with or enthusiasm for working in a culturally diverse global company
