Job purpose:

The general purpose of the Kitchen Porter is to assist the Culinary Team with dishwashing, any lounge maintenance, food preparation and front of house stocking and general cleaning of lounge and satellite kitchens. 

Duties and responsibilities:

Back of House duties:

  • Dishwashing and ownership of plate and cutlery program
  • Preparation of menu items utilizing the prep list and recipes
  • Continental breakfast setup: Cereal, fruits, yogurt and grab‐and‐go stocking 
  • Ensure plates and cutlery are ready for breakfast service
  • Help with any last-minute requests from breakfast team
  • Assist Culinary team with lunch service plating
  • Ownership of plates and cutlery. This will include setup and access of plates and cutlery, logistics of dirty plates/cutlery to dish area and running through the dishwasher
  • Ensuring bus bins are clean, labeled and available for dirty dishes
  • Shutdown of dishwasher and area including machine closing procedures, wipe down, sweeping and mopping

Front of House duties:

  • Continental breakfast setup: Cereal, fruits, yogurt and grab‐and‐go stocking 
  • Organize food & beverage vendor deliveries in storage
  • Stocking of coffee station including cups, lids, condiments, coffee etc. on all satellite kitchens
  • Clean coffee machines and get ready for morning service on all floors
  • Assist with post‐breakfast and lunch service cleanup including seating areas, plates, cutlery, dishwashing etc. 
  • Assist with satellite kitchen cleaning and maintenance 
  • Assist the Building Maintenance Specialist with any upkeep of Rooftop patio and other lounge related issues  

Qualifications:

  • Food Safe Course

Working conditions:

  • Has the potential to be hazardous working with cleaning materials, hot liquids and sharp objects.
  • Must share space with general staff in a safe and responsible manner. Fast paced and high stress environment. Must meet deadlines daily.  
  • General working hours are 7am – 3pm with potential for varying hours of work when required. 

Physical requirements:

Physically demanding job. Must lift heavy objects. Stand on feet for long periods of time. Walk up and down stairs to access storage and coolers.

Compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia’s pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background. 

The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values.
