Job Description

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

  • Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
  • Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
  • Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.

To be a successful "AVP Data Transfers", you should have experience with (Mandatory):

1.Carrying our document Review exercises (e.g. In the context of litigation or data Subject Access Requests).

2.Technical Knowledge and competency on Data Protection laws including the GDP, Schrems and local countries regulations.

4.Reviewing Procurement Matters flagged by internal systems as in scope of Data Transfer Impact Assessments (DTIA).

5.Liaising with legal counsels on producing Data Transfer Impact Assessments using DDQs and Supporting documents.

6.Collaborating with Procurement / Business and Suppliers on completion of internal and external Supplier Data transfer Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs).

Some other highly valued skills may include (Mandatory):

  • Experience on liaising across teams i.e. Procurement / business colleagues / suppliers / legal.
  • Experience on reviewing DDQs and Supplier contractual documents and flagging any issues, discrepancies etc.
  • Experience with using Process Unity or similar third-party risk management platforms.
  • Working with stakeholders to improve processes/ workflows.
  • Good Communication skills – verbal and written (technical and non-technical).

 Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications (Not mandatory):

  • Preferably a background in Legal (via a degree, paralegal experience or equivalent).
  • Experience liaising with legal counsels across own and Supplier’s organizations.
  • Knowledge of eDiscovery Processes (including searches and document extraction etc.
