Experience Required:
- 5–8 years total IT experience, with at least 2–3 years specifically in Microsoft Security & Compliance tools (M365 Compliance, Azure Purview/Microsoft Purview).
- Hands-on project implementation experience with Microsoft Purview in enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities / Activities
Implementation & Configuration
- Deploy and configure Microsoft Purview solutions (Data Governance, Data Catalog, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Insider Risk, eDiscovery, Compliance Manager).
- Integrate Purview with Microsoft 365 workloads (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and Azure services (Synapse, Data Lake, SQL).
- Configure sensitive information types, retention labels, sensitivity labels, and data classification policies.
- Set up data connectors and scanners for on-premises, multi-cloud, and SaaS data sources.
Administration & Management
- Monitor and manage Purview compliance center dashboards and alerts.
- Perform periodic audits, risk assessments, and compliance reporting.
- Fine-tune data governance and classification models to align with regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, Indian DPDP Bill, etc.).
- Manage access roles, permissions, and policies for data governance.
Integration & Automation
- Work with security, data, and compliance teams to integrate Purview into broader data governance and security frameworks.
- Automate compliance workflows using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, or Logic Apps.
- Collaborate with data engineering and BI teams to enforce data lineage, cataloging, and quality standards.
Support & Documentation
- Provide L2/L3 support for Purview-related issues.
- Create technical documentation, SOPs, and user guides.
- Conduct end-user and stakeholder training on Purview features and compliance reporting.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal (Information Protection, Data Governance, Risk Management).
- Hands-on with sensitivity labels, DLP, retention policies, insider risk, eDiscovery, compliance reporting.
- Experience with Azure Purview (now Microsoft Purview Data Governance) for data catalog, lineage, and classification.
- Scripting experience in PowerShell / Python for automation.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, ISO 27001, Indian DPDP Bill).
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid integrations.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate (SC-400).
- Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) – nice to have.
- Other (optional): ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, CIPP/E (for privacy understanding).
Soft Skills
- Strong stakeholder communication (compliance, legal, IT security teams).
- Ability to translate compliance requirements into technical policies.
- Analytical mindset for risk & impact assessment.
