The Senior Paralegal – Litigation drives case management for complex litigation and arbitration. We need a proactive professional who can handle high-stakes matters independently, lead discovery, and manage sophisticated document workflows. You’ll draft substantive legal materials and anticipate case needs in a fast-paced environment. This role requires sharp analytical skills, strong business sense, and a "can-do" approach to high-volume workloads.

The role will sit in our Charlotte, NC office in a hybrid capacity of in-office 3x per week.

Core Responsibilities:

Litigation and Arbitration Case Management:

  • Oversee service of process, including the intake, receipt, review, and prompt triage of all documents and pleadings served on the company.

  • Conduct legal research, and factual investigation to support case strategy.

  • Draft, review, and prepare documents, including discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, subpoena responses, and correspondence.

  • Manage case files, maintain organized records, and ensure compliance with applicable rules and deadlines.

  • Support attorneys in all phases of litigation, including conducting fact investigation, preparing and tracking litigation holds, and managing e-discovery responses.

Discovery & Document Management:

  • Lead large-scale discovery projects, including document collection, review coordination, production, and privilege logging.

  • Manage discovery platforms and collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate and timely productions.

  • Analyze documents for relevance, confidentiality, and responsiveness, and prepare summaries for attorney review.

  • Manage CounselLink and other matter management tools, including matter creation, updates, data entry, and preparation of reports for quarterly monthly meetings with key Xylem stakeholders.

  • Manage subpoena responses, including receiving and processing service, examining appropriateness of requests, collecting relevant documents, conducting thorough reviews, including appropriate redactions that may be necessary, and preparing responses for attorney review.

Client & Case Team Communication:

  • Coordinate meetings, depositions, interviews, and case-related communications.

  • Provide timely updates to clients and attorneys and respond to inquiries with professionalism and clarity.

Legal Administration:

  • Track time, expenses, and billing entries with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Assist with budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and resource planning for litigation matters.

  • Support internal process improvements and contribute to department-wide initiatives.


Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to ethical rules, confidentiality requirements, and litigation-specific regulations.

  • Monitor changes in court rules, procedural requirements, and relevant laws.

  • Identify potential risks in case handling and recommend mitigation strategies.

Minimum Skills, Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field with minimum of 10 years of litigation paralegal experience.

  • Private practice and in-house experience are required.

  • Advanced knowledge of litigation processes, court rules, and case lifecycles.

  • Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and litigation support platforms (e.g., Relativity, CounselLink,  Everlaw, CaseMap).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with attorneys, executives, and other key stakeholders.

  • Strong PC skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple complex matters simultaneously.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting legal documents and understanding complex legal concepts.

  • Professional certification, such as Certified Paralegal preferred

The estimated salary range for this position is $40 to $50 per hour plus bonus.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
