BWE
Full-time
On-site
Cleveland, Ohio, United States

BWE is seeking a senior Microsoft Platform Engineer to design, build, and evolve our Microsoft ecosystem with a strong hands-on engineering focus. This role is responsible for shaping how Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure storage, and identity services work together as a cohesive, reliable enterprise platform. The role emphasizes practical engineering work that improves usability, scalability, and consistency across the Microsoft platform, particularly as BWE expands its use of Copilot, Power Platform, and Azure-based services. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, operates directly in the environment, and solves complex cross-platform challenges spanning collaboration, storage, identity, and Azure services.

Responsibilities:

Microsoft Platform Engineering

  • Design, build, and maintain Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Azure storage solutions as an integrated enterprise platform.

  • Implement platform security configurations across Microsoft 365 and Azure in collaboration with the Security team.

  • Remediate Microsoft platform findings from audits, assessments, and vulnerability scans.

  • Troubleshoot complex Tier 3 platform issues spanning collaboration, storage, identity, and Azure services.

  • Serve as a senior technical authority for Microsoft platform design and implementation decisions.

SharePoint, OneDrive & Collaboration Engineering

  • Build and maintain SharePoint site architectures, libraries, metadata models, permissions, and document workflows.

  • Engineer OneDrive and Teams file structures that support enterprise collaboration at scale.

  • Execute SharePoint and OneDrive migrations, restructures, and consolidations while preserving metadata, permissions, and version history.

  • Integrate SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive with downstream systems and Azure-based workloads.

Azure & Identity Engineering

  • Maintain and enhance Azure environments with a focus on identity, storage, platform integration, and operational stability.

  • Design and support Azure storage solutions, including Blob Storage and secure integration with Microsoft 365 workloads.

  • Configure and manage Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access, MFA, and Privileged Identity Management.

  • Support hybrid identity and directory services, including Azure AD Connect and on-prem Active Directory integrations.

Platform Reliability & Enablement

  • Engineer reliable, repeatable Microsoft platform configurations using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and native Microsoft tooling where appropriate.

  • Provide Tier 3 engineering support for Microsoft platform issues spanning collaboration, identity, storage, Azure access, and connectivity dependencies.

  • Partner with network and infrastructure owners (including Meraki) to troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting Microsoft 365 access, SharePoint/OneDrive sync, Teams performance, and Azure connectivity.

  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks to support platform clarity and reuse.

  • Partner with AI and agentic engineering teams by ensuring the Microsoft platform is well-structured, well-integrated, and ready to support advanced automation and AI-driven solutions.

Cross-Functional Enablement

  • Partner with Security, Data, AI, and Solutions Engineering teams to ensure Microsoft platform services are configured, integrated, and ready to support their workloads.

  • Enable AI and agentic engineering teams by maintaining clean, well-structured, and predictable Microsoft environments rather than building automations or agents.

  • Act as an escalation point for complex Microsoft platform issues that span multiple teams or services.

  • Support cross-functional initiatives by implementing Microsoft platform changes that align with established standards and technical direction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience engineering Microsoft enterprise environments, with deep specialization in Microsoft 365.

  • Demonstrated expertise across SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Entra ID.

  • Strong experience with identity and access management, including MFA, Conditional Access, and privileged access concepts.

  • Hands-on experience executing Microsoft migrations and restructures (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange), including permissions and metadata preservation.

  • Working knowledge of Azure with emphasis on identity, storage, and platform integration.

  • Strong PowerShell skills; experience with Microsoft Graph is a plus.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex Tier 3 Microsoft platform issues.

  • Strong documentation skills and experience operating in compliance-driven or regulated environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, commercial mortgage banking, banking, insurance, government, or healthcare.

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Purview capabilities including retention, DLP, sensitivity labeling, and eDiscovery.

  • Experience supporting Microsoft platforms in hybrid enterprise environments, including familiarity with network and connectivity dependencies (e.g., DNS, VPN connectivity, routing) and effective partnership with network teams.

  • Familiarity with integrating Microsoft security tooling (e.g., Defender, Sentinel) in partnership with a dedicated Security team.

  • Exposure to network and connectivity dependencies (DNS, VPN, routing) that impact Microsoft platform reliability.

  • Microsoft certifications in Microsoft 365, Identity, Security, or Azure.
