The Senior Practice Technology Technician is a senior member of the Practice Technology – Disputes Operations team, reporting to the Practice Technology – Disputes Operations Manager. Based in the Manila office, this role requires 4+ years of experience in law firm, electronic discovery vendor, or in-house practice support environments, with strong litigation support and technical expertise. The Senior Technician provides hands-on support for electronic discovery processes, including data ingestion, processing, hosting, review platform support, reporting, and environment maintenance activities such as data validation, cleanup, archiving, and migration, ensuring adherence to workflows, best practices, and quality standards.
This role also involves troubleshooting technical issues, validating data, supporting complex projects, and assisting with workflow optimization and process documentation. The Senior Technician collaborates with managers and senior staff to maintain operational continuity, deliver high-quality service to internal stakeholders and clients, and mentor junior team members. Strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential.
The roles and responsibilities of this job include:
- Support multiple database applications, including document review platforms, transcript management systems and file transfer protocol workspaces.
- Be familiar with the Electronic Discovery Reference model.
- Provide support for users (directly or as a third party), with the ability to meet strict deadlines under significant time constraints:
- Provide resolution or route to other support teams as appropriate.
- Flexibility to adjust hours to meet operating needs and deliverable deadlines. Extended hours are required at times including evening and weekend hours.
- Required to monitor and respond to email after hours.
- Maintenance, tracking and archival of data on third party processing environment.
- Document recommended practices for use of corporate legal technology tools when appropriate.
- Assist with testing new technology and provide feedback to team management.
- Support the Project Management team in standard data processing and handling tasks, or any other technical requests as necessary.
- Manage and audit team’s matter tracking and management system for compliance with standard operating procedures
- Monthly reporting for utilization of departments various platforms and tools
- Monthly reporting of users across department’s various platforms for security compliance
- Conduct and track data archival projects
- Coordinate conflict checks on incoming matters
- Provide guidance and training for more junior team members
- Represent the Manila Ops team in local meetings and events during team leader’s absences or unavailability
- Routinely verify the accuracy of the team’s work product
- Perform other duties necessary and essential to support the firm's strategic technology goals.
- Familiarity with Relativity One a big plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or technical degree preferred; 4+ years of experience managing electronic discovery projects may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Thorough knowledge of the following firm applications: Venio, Relativity, eZReview, Intella, Opus 2.
- Experience training users on firm applications.
- Thorough knowledge of designing databases and workflows for organizing, processing, and review of data.
- Understanding of relational databases, queries, and tables; familiarity with hosting platforms and data migration/archiving procedures.
- Experience training and supporting end-users on firm eDiscovery applications and solutions.
- Experience in generating and analyzing data processing reports.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Thorough knowledge of the electronic discovery data processing best practices.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientation.
- Highly developed organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective and professional communication with colleagues.
- Able to manage time and resources to meet or exceed established service level agreements.
