This position serves as the Senior Systems Engineer for the DoIT, in providing expert technical assistance, advice, and guidance to DoIT PIM staff and the PIM Manager. In this role, you will serve as a highly advanced specialist in planning, implementing, and coordinating enterprise Microsoft M365 Exchange Online administration, performing complex and sophisticated email system support functions. Additionally, you will serve as a project leader providing advice and guidance to DoIT PIM staff for highly complex assignments such as the enterprise M365 email system, mobile endpoint management, enterprise fax system, mass email subscription services, and other agency IT related projects. Essential Functions

 

  • Under administrative direction, serves as the Senior Systems Engineer for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), in providing expert technical assistance, advice, and guidance to DoIT PIM staff and the PIM Manager regarding the highly complex aspects of Microsoft M365 Exchange Online, including hybrid Exchange administration, email journal archiving, and eDiscovery process methods.
  • Coordinates in-depth studies involving extensive technical research and systems analysis of agency Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions that are of major scope and impact.
  • Serves as a project leader providing advice and guidance to DoIT PIM staff for highly complex assignments such as the enterprise M365 email system, mobile endpoint management, enterprise fax system, mass email subscription services, and other agency IT related projects.
  • Manages and maintains process and procedure documentation for the DoIT PIM Engineering team to ensure departmental documentation is current and reliable.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
  • Requires five (5) years of professional experience in a System Services related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

• Requires five (5) years of professional experience in managing and administering a large enterprise Microsoft O365 Exchange Online environment, including hybrid Exchange administration, advanced email authentication and mail flow policy design, and the use of PowerShell and Exchange Admin Center (EAC) for enterprise configuration management.

• Requires five (5) years of professional experience as a Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) SMTP gateway administrator.

• Requires five (5) years of professional experience in managing MobileIron MDM mobile device management for Apple iPhone and iPad endpoint devices, including configuration, policy administration, enrollment, and compliance management within an enterprise environment.

• Requires five (5) years of professional experience in managing and administering Arctera Enterprise Vault email data archiving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) years of professional experience in managing and administering a large enterprise Microsoft O365 Exchange Online environment, including hybrid Exchange administration, advanced email authentication and mail flow policy design, and the use of PowerShell and Exchange Admin Center (EAC) for enterprise configuration management.

• Five (5) years of professional experience as a Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) SMTP gateway administrator.

• Five (5) years of professional experience managing an enterprise level OpenText RightFax ‘fax to email’ system.

• Five (5) years of professional experience working with Electronically Stored Information (ESI) eDiscovery processes and procedures with a full understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) to ensure compliance of the eDiscovery lifecycle.

• Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.

• Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, aligning individual contributions toward shared goals to consistently deliver high-impact results.

• Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information clearly and precisely to diverse audiences, including business users, development teams, and agency executives.
