BASIC FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for preparing complex documents, agreements and pleadings related to litigation and regulatory matters; interfacing with internal business partners and outside counsel on regulatory examinations and litigation to research and gather responsive materials; responding to third party discovery request. Has a thorough understanding of best practices for document collections and production and an awareness all other aspects of the legal department's work and its context in the organization as a whole.
NOTE: This role is hybrid/flex and requires in-office visibility three days per week, working from home the other two days. Relocation will not be extended; sponsorship (either now or in the future) is not available.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor Degree AND 2 yearsβ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department OR Paralegal Certification AND 4 yearsβ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department OR 6 years of direct experience in a law firm or corporate legal department performing the functions of a Paralegal.
- Knowledge of the judicial system, court procedures, HCSC corporate policies, procedures, and company operations.
- Detail and deadline orientation with PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and move amongst tasks and changing priorities effectively.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills and experience dealing directly with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into understandable guidance.
- Strong organizational, analytical, resourcefulness, and problem solving skills.
- Team player with ability to handle high-pressure situations.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
- Complex case and project management experience.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS **
- Independently conduct research, analysis and investigation and take results of such tasks and make a determination of appropriate action for review by litigation manager and/or outside counsel. Request claims or other business information and act as liaison between claims area and in-house and outside attorneys on pending or threatened litigation or third-party discovery requests.
- Review and analyze complex agreements, instruments, documents, and/or pleadings relating to litigation and make recommendations to in-house attorneys and/or outside counsel as to further action to be taken.
- Interface directly with outside counsel regarding a variety of legal issues relevant to the business operations of the Company and/or litigation impacting the Company, including the preparation of necessary legal documents to respond to lawsuits and discovery requests.
- Work with outside counsel on determining proper witnesses in cases and coordinate with internal business partners, acting as liaison with various internal departments.
- Compile and assemble data from various sources and prepare regular and special reports for attorneys and management regarding litigation. Comfortable interacting with general database ideas (e.g., fields for production, format, etc.) and working to convert legal requests into database terms.
- Respond to third-party discovery requests.
- Directly receive requests and assess the needs of other departments for legal assistance and/or information, especially regarding regulatory examinations, third-party subpoenas and litigation, and take appropriate action to resolve and support the needs of those departments.
- Serve as resource for certain business division customers regarding outstanding legal questions when they are unable to obtain satisfactory results via normal protocol.
- Work with attorneys, other paralegals and/or other members of the legal team on a variety of issues relevant to the business operations of the Company and/or litigation impacting the Company.
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers of all levels including attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants, management, customers, etc.
- Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies and maintain complete confidentiality of company business.
- Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.

The compensation offered will vary depending on your job-related skills, education, knowledge, and experience. This role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan subject to the terms and the conditions of the plan.

Base Pay Range
$55,900.00 - $123,500.00
