I. Job Summary

 
The Sr. Manager, Discovery Processes and Forensics Lab position is accountable for the company's programs and processes for collecting, retaining and providing electronic data. This position manages the strategy and operations of the WM Computer Forensic Lab and all e-discovery processes. The position is responsible for ensuring the forensic lab's processes are compliant with applicable laws and company policies. The position is also responsible for assisting attorneys and paralegals throughout the company, as well as outside counsel, primarily on discovery issues, but also on various other legal activities. At this level, the individual is expected to work on all types of cases, from moderate risk to the most complex assignments. The individual must have a working knowledge or understanding of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the law with regard to preservation holds in litigation, and the software products used in the discovery process, including those used for the preservation, collection and archiving of electronic documents

 
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages the WM Computer Forensics Lab and the team operating the lab.
  • Develops and manages the implementation of the Company’s overall strategy for electronic document collection, storage, archiving and destruction.
  • Assists in design, implementation and continuous review and improvement of Legal Department related processes and technologies, particularly those related to electronic and paper litigation holds.
  • Reviews requests to forensically examine WM devices (computers, laptops, tablets, phones, etc.) and in partnership with legal counsel recommends forensic examinations.
  • Coordinates the administrative management of litigation holds as a centralized process for the entire department. Provides assistance and oversight for the substantive processes to other Department members.
  • Maintains statistical and documented information related to cases and/or Company issues. Works with appropriate departments/functions within the Company to ensure implementation of policies or actions when necessary.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to better ensure processes and procedures are sufficient to satisfy company policy and state and federal laws.
  • Initiates and develops reports to apprize management of the status, volume and complexity of litigation holds and other issues.
  • Possesses and is able to demonstrate general understanding of legal functions on a wide scope and specifically has knowledge and is able to implement the rules of litigation, particularly related to discovery.
  • Directs and manages vendors retained for electronic document management.
  • Responsible for an operations budget and accountable for financial oversight of the budget.
III. Qualifications 

 
A. Required Qualifications 
  • Associate's Degree focused on the Paralegal career is 
  • 7 years or more years of previous legal experience required, including a significant portion of that time spent in discovery production related activities. 
  • 3 years Experience with discovery and matter management systems. 
B. Preferred Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's Degree or J.D., and direct experience in the management of electronic discovery issues 
IV. Physical Requirements
  • This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
