Senior eDiscovery Specialist

The Global Senior eDiscovery Specialist in our Toronto office acts as a catalyst for digital transformation in litigation and investigations, leveraging advanced AI tools and analytics to proactively identify, preserve, collect, review, and produce ESI. About the Role
In this opportunity as a Senior eDiscovery Specialist, you will be responsible for:   

Legal Compliance & Strategy

  • Design and implement next-generation eDiscovery workflows using AI and predictive analytics. Collaborate cross-functionally with Thomson Reuters product team to pilot and evaluate innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with and advise multiple stakeholders across HR, internal audit, technology, compliance, and litigation teams on e-discovery techniques, technologies, and corresponding workflows.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on e-discovery tools, workflows and best practices.

Legal Holds

  • Assist in identifying custodians who should be subject to legal holds in connection with litigation, legal demands for documents, or investigations.
  • Assist litigation teams and other stakeholders with preservation of relevant data sources.
  • Draft, execute and manage legal holds for legal, regulatory, subpoenas, and internal investigation matters.

Data Management and Collection

  • Develop and manage secure handling of ESI across all matters
  • Document data sources, custodians, and chain of custody for all preserved and collected data.
  • Coordinate and monitor data collection efforts across internal teams and external vendors.
  • Assist legal teams with custodian interviews and identification of relevant documents for collection.
  • Collaborate with IT, outside counsel, and e-discovery vendors to execute appropriate discovery plans.
  • Ensure data privacy measures are adhered to during the collection process.

Document Review & Production

  • Configure review workspaces in eDiscovery platforms.
  • Provide key insight to the litigation team regarding document review functions, best practices and cutting-edge technology. Prepare document productions in accordance with established protocols and deadlines.

About You
You're a fit for the role of Senior eDiscovery Specialist if your background includes:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of litigation support and e-discovery project management experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • AI Proficiency and Innovation Mindset: Demonstrated experience with AI-powered solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of e-discovery/collection platforms and tools such as RelativityOne, Purview and Exterro, including experience with advanced functions. Demonstrated experience with AI-powered solutions.
  • Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of litigation processes, ESI lifecycle, data preservation, and legal hold protocols.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to work collaboratively and ability to manage large datasets and multiple concurrent matters.
  • Education & Certifications: Advanced legal/technical degree preferred, E-Discovery Certifications.
