About the role:
At Commure, we are seeking a talented and dynamic Senior Commercial Counsel to join our legal team. You will be spearheading all defensive and offensive litigation at the company, including ADR, managing outside counsel budgets, managing discovery / internal fact finding, and drafting pleadings in coordination with outside counsel. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance and support on a wide range of commercial matters, including contracts, partnerships, and compliance.
What you’ll do:
Review, negotiate, and draft a variety of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, customer agreements, partnership agreements, and licensing agreements
Provide proactive legal advice to internal stakeholders on commercial matters, risk management, and compliance issues
Ensure that Commure’s commercial practices comply with relevant laws and regulations, including data privacy, intellectual property, and industry-specific regulations
Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws
Collaborate with other departments, including sales, marketing, and product development, to support business objectives and address legal challenges
What you have:
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (California bar admission or willingness to obtain strongly preferred).
Must be admitted to practice law in a US state or have the ability to obtain admission
5+ years of experience with complex commercial litigation is required
Employment litigation experience is a nice-to-have.
Strong knowledge of contract law and commercial transactions
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously, including high-
stakes disputes with significant financial exposure
Strong written advocacy skills. You can draft a persuasive brief, and you can also explain
litigation risk to a non-lawyer executive in plain English
Experience managing outside counsel relationships, including budget oversight and
strategic direction
Comfort with discovery mechanics, including e-discovery platforms, document review
workflows, and privilege logging
