Roles & responsibilities
We are recruiting an India/US qualified lawyer who can be effective member of the KGS OGC team, that complements the activities of the US Corporate Legal-Employment Counseling & Disputes team (ECD team) that sits within the Legal, Risk Management & Compliance (LRMC) department of KPMG LLP. The role is for a capable generalist with intellectual curiosity and adaptability and focused on supporting the ECD team with matters of employee counselling and dispute resolutions. Other tasks will be assigned as the team member gains experience and knowledge.
KPMG LLP is the US member of the international KPMG network of professional services firms and provides audit, tax and advisory services to a wide variety of clients. The US Office of General Counsel (OGC) is a very busy department providing support on engagement commercial issues across the whole firm. The ECD team plays a key role in providing legal advice relating to corporate issues, employee counselling and dispute matters.
The recruit will complement the activities of the members of the onshore team by:
•Provide support to ECD team in handling subpoenas, employee personnel file or document requests, and processing income tax levies and/or other income/wage garnishment orders.
•Perform document review and prepare documents for production in response to subpoenas and file requests
•Assist ECD Team in managing document preservation procedures through an electronic system. Assist in the drafting of document preservation notices based on analysis of subpoenas, documents requests, and discovery demands. Provide support to ECD Team in periodic assessments to determine whether preservation notices should be lifted.
•Maintain and update internal legal department document intake systems and ebilling/matter management platform.
•Assist in drafting language for inclusion in offer letters and other communications to KPMG LLP applicants and professionals

Educational qualifications
•LLB or LLM
Work experience
•The candidate must have minimum 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably with a Big 4 firm or expertise in a large MNC
•Skillset: Experience with litigation eDiscovery applications/databases such as Relativity. Experience with ebilling/matter management platforms required; specific knowledge of CounselLink is desirable not mandatory
Mandatory technical & functional skills
•Experience with document preservation systems, specific knowledge of Exterro a plus.
•Familiarity with U.S. Litigation system
•Strong writing, interpersonal, project management and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate succinctly and accurately in an active environment.
•Strong collaboration skills, including building strong business partnerships and working within cross-functional teams.
•Ability to multitask and work under time constraints, as needed
•facility with MicroSoft Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and Adobe Acrobat), as well as working knowledge of various online research databases
