Role impact & contribution

In this senior advisory role, you will provide authoritative, practical advice on transparency, integrity and good governance matters across the NSW Government. Working within the Transparency & Integrity branch of the Office of General Counsel, you will lead complex information access and integrity matters, supporting Treasury and agencies to meet their statutory obligations in high‑risk, time‑critical environments.

You will exercise sound judgment and influence in managing sensitive matters, including applications under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and responses to parliamentary and investigative processes. Through strong stakeholder engagement, clear communication and strategic thinking, you will help manage risk, strengthen governance practice and maintain public confidence in government decision‑making.

Achieve success as Senior Advisor, Transparency and Integrity

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Experience leading complex information access matters, including parliamentary orders under Standing Order 52 and applications under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in government, law, policy, economics or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of public sector governance, integrity and accountability frameworks.
  • The ability to interpret and apply legislation, case law and precedents, and to conduct investigations and respond to oversight bodies such as the ICAC, IPC or Ombudsman.
  • Sound judgement, adaptability and the ability to prioritise and deliver high‑quality advice in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach, with the confidence to engage effectively across agencies and with senior stakeholders.
  • Willingness to build technical capability (including legal and eDiscovery systems) and extend expertise into new and complex areas at the intersection of legal, policy and political considerations.

Eligibility
