Your day as a Senior Advisor

The Senior Advisor provides expert advice and practical support on Transparency and Integrity matters across government. Working in a fast-paced environment, the role contributes to managing information access, regulatory engagement, and legal issues. Success relies on strong communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills. The Senior Advisor collaborates closely with Treasury teams, NSW agencies, and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include managing document production requests under Standing Order 52, deciding GIPA Act applications, and supporting strategic legal projects. The role also involves investigating privacy complaints, advising on professional standards and information requests, and helping develop internal knowledge resources. The Senior Advisor supports senior leaders with briefs and reports for governance matters, complaints, and oversight bodies like ICAC and the Ombudsman.

Achieve success as Senior Advisor

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

The ideal candidate would preferably have experience in following criteria:

• Desirable experience leading complex information access matters, including Standing Order 52 and GIPA Act applications.
• Experience to apply strong governance knowledge and legal expertise, supported by relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Highly desirable if you have exposure to investigating and responding to referrals from oversight bodies like ICAC, IPC, and the Ombudsman.
• deliver timely, adaptable solutions in a high-volume, sensitive environment using legal and eDiscovery tools.
• Experience collaborating across government and extending expertise into emerging areas at the intersection of law, policy, and information access is highly desirable
