The Research Support Specialist provides timely and efficient responses to quick research inquiries, enabling the Research and Information Services team to maintain high service levels. This role is designed to manage straightforward research tasks, freeing up Research Specialists to focus on detailed and complex requests.

A Day in the Life

In this role, the Research Support Specialist responds promptly to basic research requests by locating primary law, public records, and other relevant information using firm‑approved resources. They help retrieve, organize, and deliver findings in a clear and accessible format while maintaining accurate records of completed requests for tracking and reporting. The position works closely with Research Specialists, transitioning detailed matters or escalating inquiries that require advanced analysis. Responsibilities also include monitoring research inboxes or request systems to ensure timely responses, staying current on firm databases and research tools to support efficient workflows, and providing general support for departmental initiatives, including administrative tasks as needed.

The ideal Research Support Specialist should have a service-oriented disposition with a desire to integrate themselves within the team. This candidate should always subscribe to a high level of professionalism and communication. You understand that having a willingness to grow and a desire to be a self-starter. Having a MLIS degree is required for this position. This job may appeal to MLIS graduates with law school experience, though it's not required.
