eDiscovery Project Management

Our work ranges from helping the Firm leverage the latest legal, client and market knowledge to providing front-line support for legal teams in their client work.

Our Practice Technology Offering is broad, covering a wide array of Advisory and Data Services:

  • Comprehensive eDiscovery services, including data processing, AI/GenAI/machine learning, managed review, productions, and support through arbitration and trial.
  • Full-spectrum eDiscovery advisory, covering budgeting, vendor management, data transfer protocols, project oversight, and lifecycle management.
  • Development of bespoke workflows, playbooks, and collaboration portals tailored to legal strategy and client needs.
  • Document automation to streamline the creation of standard and complex document suites.
  • Trial and arbitration support services, seamlessly integrated into overall matter strategy.
  • Enhanced matter efficiency through integration of advanced legal technologies and optimized resourcing models, including ALSPs and staff attorneys.
  • Improved transparency and budget control across all phases of discovery work.
  • Simplified collaboration and data sharing with clients and third parties through secure, user-friendly platforms.

Position Summary

Position seeks a highly motivated and technically skilled Project Manager for Practice Technology Disputes, based in Washington, D.C.  Reporting to a Manager in Practice Technology Disputes, this is a strategic, hands-on role supporting lawyers and clients on complex, event-driven matters.

The Project Manager is responsible for supporting, coordinating, and tracking project workflows from discovery through trial.  The role requires strong experience with Relativity, including database design, analytics, and quality control of data loads, as well as the ability to manage complex eDiscovery projects end to end.  Responsibilities include developing project plans, budgets, cost estimates, and recommendations; drafting project proposals and status reports; coordinating processing, review, and production workflows; providing end-user support; and troubleshooting litigation support applications.  Experience with AI/GenAI-enabled review workflows is strongly preferred. Flexibility in work hours is required, including periodic evening and weekend work.

This role requires 4+ years of experience in a law firm, eDiscovery vendor, or Big Four environment, with a strong focus on bankruptcy, disputes, white collar matters, competition, international arbitration, and disclosure.  The ideal candidate can independently manage complex projects in high-pressure environments and demonstrates a strong interest in adopting emerging legal technologies, including analytics, TAR, and Generative AI.  Hands-on experience with data processing tools, hosting platforms, and predictive coding workflows is required; experience with Brainspace is a plus.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and deliver high-quality client service.  Familiarity with trial presentation software such as Sanction or Trial Director, online trial presentation platforms (e.g., Opus, TrialView, or Legal Radius), and on-site trial support experience are all a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage electronic discovery projects for ESI and paper files, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production.
  • Coordinate with internal eDiscovery teams, managed services providers, and external vendors to oversee all discovery and disclosure activities.
  • Oversee assigned matters to ensure quality, defensibility, and successful delivery.
  • Advise case teams on best practices for document management, eDiscovery workflows, and matter strategy.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, cost estimates, and recommendations.
  • Communicate with case teams regarding discovery strategy, budget status, timelines, and production planning.
  • Provide consultative guidance to lawyers on the use of disputes-related legal technology tools (e.g., VincentAI, Legora, Opus 2, Clearbrief) across matter lifecycles, partnering with dedicated tool owners and practice technology teams for operational delivery and ongoing support.
  • Partner with legal teams to navigate complex, unstructured challenges, applying strong consulting and problem-solving skills to translate legal, technical, and operational requirements into practical, effective solutions.
  • Provide regular status reporting to case teams, senior team members, and management.
  • Track, analyze, and manage incoming client data.
  • Design and maintain review databases and workflows in vendor and internal litigation support platforms.
  • Assist with vendor evaluation, selection, and ongoing management.
  • Support senior team members with eDiscovery execution, including data processing, productions, searches, and data imports/exports.
  • Track billable and non-billable time in the firm’s timekeeping system.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support matters.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the firm’s strategic technology and practice goals.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; technical degree preferred.
  • RCA certification strongly preferred.
  • PMP, ACEDS, or other project management/business analysis certifications a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience managing electronic discovery and legal technology projects in law firms, corporate legal departments, Big Four, or eDiscovery vendors.
  • Proven experience managing complex eDiscovery matters, including government investigations, cross-border cases, and large-scale document reviews.
  • Deep understanding of the eDiscovery lifecycle, including EDRM, Sedona principles, and evolving case law and regulatory standards.
  • Advanced, hands-on expertise with Relativity, plus experience with additional eDiscovery and legal technology platforms such as VenioOne, Nuix, eZReview, Trial Director, CaseRooms, and other similar tools.
  • Experience applying AI/GenAI technologies to review and investigation workflows, including but not limited to tools such as Relativity aiR, Opus Magnum, Clearbrief, VincentAI and Legora.
  • Strong knowledge of data processing, vendor deliverables, quality control, and review database/workflow design.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based eDiscovery solutions and modern hosting platforms.
  • Experience analyzing vendor and internal processing reports and managing data deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex matters across multiple offices, both domestic and international.
  • Experience training users on firm applications; classroom training experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and resolving complex technical issues independently.
  • Strong technical knowledge of information retrieval, archiving systems, analytics tools, and workflow automation, with awareness of emerging legal technologies.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a strong client service orientation.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, time, and resources effectively to meet or exceed service level agreements.
  • Flexibility to support project demands, including varied work hours and remote, hybrid, or in-office arrangements as business needs require.

Location and Reporting

  • This role will be based in Washington, D.C.
  • Firm Hybrid Work Policy: Currently 4 days in the office and 1 day remote per week, subject to change in accordance with firm policy
  • This role reports to a Manager in Practice Technology Disputes.
  • This role has formal management responsibility for:
    • Representing Practice Technology Disputes globally, including outreach and branding.
    • Providing Practice Technology solutions to our lawyers/clients globally.
    • Collaborating with the other groups under Practice Solutions.
    • Providing support to the Practice Technology Disputes team members globally.
