The Opportunity:

  • The Project Manager is the Contractor manager with primary responsibility for all support provided to a particular case.
  • Working on-site in DOJ’s offices in DC, the Project Manager will lead an experienced medium sized on-site litigation team.  You will mentor staff, develop and apply best practices, and insure quality and timely deliverables.
  • Have frequent contact with the trial attorneys, client agency staff, DOJ COR, Government Case Managers, CACI Support Team, and sometimes even opposing counsel.
  • Plan and manage all support for the cases, including monitoring workflow, progress reporting, identifying and assigning staff, budget development and tracking, coordinating technical/data processing support, and obtaining other required resources.
  • Serve as an eDiscovery consultant - planning document reviews, discovery strategies, and database organization.
  • Providing recommendations and on-site technical support for programs such as Relativity, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • The Project Manager's work may be subject to coordination or direction by the DOJ Assistant Section Chief and CACI Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing supervision and guidance to the contracting team on a day-to-day basis for tasks they complete related to discovery, motions and deposition, hearings, trial preparations, support trials, creating first drafts of multiple documents, cite-checking briefs, drafting attorney fees spreadsheets, etc., and suggesting appropriate OT as necessary.
  • Providing litigation support training to new contractors, assessing the training needs of current contractors.
  • Running weekly meetings with the entire team to go over assignments, discuss case developments that could impact the team, and exchange any information about the day-to-day workings of the team.
  • Handling the administrative side of the group including making case assignments collaboratively with CACI Senior Operations Title Analyst; determining if the caseload of individual paralegals and law clerks is appropriately divided; keeping track of assignments on a spreadsheet; filling out case assignment forms; reviewing the Team Weekly Report prior to distribution; keeping on top of unassigned cases; giving an orientation to DOJ attorneys new to the RTTs docket; working with the DOJ NRS Support Staff Supervisors to keep them informed of trial dates, etc.
  • Participating in weekly RTTs Supervisor and RTTs Management Meetings.
  • Working with CACI Director and DOJ Office of Litigation Support as necessary regarding any staffing concerns.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience and at least four years of progressively more responsible supervisory and management experience on major litigation support projects, including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
  • Ability to manage numerous complex and time-critical litigation support activities simultaneously, including technical/data processing support activities.
  • Expert knowledge of litigation support; outstanding writing skills; excellent oral communication skills; and excellent management skills. 
  • Knowledge of the Government's data processing environment in which the work is to be performed, including office automation networks, PC-based databases and other applications, and internet and server-based databases and other applications, such as but not limited to Trial Director. 
  • Expert user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Undergraduate degree. Substantial significant experience in litigation support may in some cases be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Must be able to get a DOJ MBI clearance.

Desired:

  • Ability to anticipate litigation support needs and develop and execute detailed plans for addressing those needs and ability to tack and report status across multiple cases.
  • Strong Relativity skills.
  • Strong personnel management skills.
  • Strong Federal trial support experience.
  • Law degree, eDiscovery experience or advanced technical certification, or other pertinent graduate degree preferred.
