Principal Investigator, APAC

Role Purpose

As part of the Global Security Organization, The Corporate Investigations mission is to provide the highest quality investigative services by utilizing advanced technologies, data analytics, and industry expertise to detect, prevent, and resolve corporate risks. We will enhance the organization’s ability to make informed decisions by uncovering critical intelligence and ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical standards.

The Principal Investigator plays a critical role in supporting the corporate investigative process through advanced multisource analysis, leveraging diverse data streams and intelligence sources to identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the organization’s critical assets, proprietary technologies, key programs, and personnel. This role encompasses a wide range of analytical, operational, programmatic, and investigative functions designed to protect the organization from threats such as corporate espionage, theft of trade secrets or intellectual property, intelligence collection activities, fraud, and workplace violence.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage corporate investigations: Lead investigations involving employee misconduct, theft of intellectual property, fraud, and other risks to organizational assets and personnel; oversee case review and escalation in accordance with standard operating and legal procedures; and prepare clear, concise, and detailed briefing materials for senior leadership that summarize findings and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
• Conduct Interviews: Perform various types of interviews, including those with subjects, witnesses, victims, and other relevant parties, to gather critical information and insights for investigations. Use professional interviewing techniques to build rapport, extract accurate details, and assess credibility while maintaining sensitivity to the circumstances and adhering to ethical standards.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, organize, and analyze multisource data, including internal reports, proprietary systems, and open-source networks, to support investigative objectives. Ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the investigative process.
• Build Critical Relationships: Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional business partners, including Legal, Human Resources, Compliance, and other key stakeholders. Work closely with these teams to align investigative strategies, share findings, and implement risk mitigation measures that protect the organization’s people, assets, and reputation.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor’s with 5+ years’ experience or equivalent experience
• Mandarin Language Proficiency: Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin and English, with the ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively across professional, investigative, and interpersonal settings. Demonstrated strength in comprehension, interpretation, and articulation to support interviews, document review, and the analysis of complex information in Mandarin as part of investigative processes.
• Investigative Expertise: Proven experience in conducting complex corporate investigations, including insider threat assessments, fraud, misconduct, and theft of intellectual property. Skilled in employing a broad range of research methods, data collection, and analytical techniques to support investigative missions.
• Case Management: Demonstrated ability to assess complex fact patterns, identify inconsistencies, and connect disparate information to develop well-supported investigative findings and recommendations, while managing multiple case files, evidence sets, and data streams simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and organizational discipline, with the ability to produce precise, clear, and contextualized investigative reports and briefing materials that support leadership decision-making.
• Interviewing Skills: Prior experience conducting interviews with case subjects,witnesses, and victims using professional techniques to gather information, assess credibility, and document findings.
• Digital Evidence Awareness: Familiarity with evidence handling, preservation, chain of custody, and coordination with forensic or eDiscovery teams. Ability to understand data sources such as email, chat, endpoint activity, access logs, mobile devices, and cloud-based systems.
• Adaptability and Risk Triage: Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adjusting investigative strategies and priorities as needed while objectively and efficiently triaging high-risk matters to ensure appropriate prioritization and escalation.
• Interpersonal Communication: Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with investigative team members, internal stakeholders (Legal, HR, Compliance), external partners, and law enforcement agencies.

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Previous experience with digital forensics or cyber related investigations
• Language fluency beyond English and Mandarin, particularly Korean
• Open-source research certification such as C|OSINT
• Experience in data science, data mining, or visualization for trending and anomaly detection
• Official interview and Interrogation training, such as Reid or other industry standards
• An understanding of Corning’s business and assets.
• Curiosity and a drive to improve
