As a Principal FOIA Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the agency’s compliance with federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requirements. Your work will directly impact transparency and information access, supporting mission-critical operations in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing and analyzing FOIA requests in accordance with federal regulations
  • Reviewing, redacting, and preparing responsive documentation for release
  • Coordinating with legal counsel, program offices, and records management stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely responses
  • Maintaining compliance with FOIA deadlines and federal records management requirements
  • Ensuring proper application of FOIA exemptions and supporting complex request handling
  • Contributing to agency records management practices and supporting documentation audits
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders throughout the FOIA process
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5–8 years of federal FOIA experience
  • Experience handling complex FOIA requests, including applying exemptions and performing redactions
  • Working knowledge of federal records management requirements (e.g., NARA guidance/Federal Records Act)
  • Experience coordinating FOIA responses with agency counsel, program offices, and records management personnel
  • Ability to acquire a CSOSA clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with FOIA processing and redaction tools (FOIAXpress, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Relativity, eDiscovery platforms, or SharePoint)
  • Working knowledge of 5 U.S.C. Β§ 552 (FOIA) and DOJ FOIA guidance
  • Experience supporting FOIA operations for CSOSA or similar federal justice/corrections/supervision agency environments
  • Experience communicating with external FOIA requesters regarding request processing and responses
