SUMMARY
The Principal Consultant, Data Management supports the Manager or Assistant Review Manager and manages the Document Review process from project initiation to completion. The Principal Consultant works closely with the project review team to ensure the delivery of work products within established timeframes, budget requirements, and defined standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works under the supervision of the Manager to provide review support to Document Reviewers, including Quality Control (QC), Privilege, Analytics, and Predictive Coding lead management
- Creates batches, performs searches, conducts document analysis, and manages coding layouts on review platforms such as Relativity, Reveal, and Viewpoint to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Prepares and performs Quality Control (QC) checks in coordination with managers to maintain quality standards
- Develops reports, including review and quality reports, using review platforms to track project performance
- Creates and edits search terms based on subject matter needs using appropriate operators and syntaxes across review platforms to improve search accuracy
- Escalates issues in review or Quality Control (QC) management to the Review Manager to ensure timely resolution
- Coordinates with the Review Manager to assign batches and manage end-to-end batch distribution to support smooth project execution
- Creates Quality Control (QC) pools in coordination with managers or QC leads to uphold review integrity
- Reviews documents and collaborates with the team to ensure alignment and consistency
- Trains team members on project-specific tasks to build capability and drive efficiency
- Works independently on complex problems, leads Incident Response (IR) efforts, and coordinates with other teams to resolve issues
- Makes autonomous decisions by applying advanced knowledge and techniques to handle complex incidents effectively
- Fosters cross-functional relationships to drive project progress and provides coaching or guidance to junior team members
- Prioritizes work, manages multiple tasks, delegates responsibilities, and ensures timely delivery of deliverables
- Drafts and maintains process documents (e.g., batching, analysis) to ensure standardized practices
- Assists the Document Review Manager by leading the project review team for daily review tasks, including drafting project-specific documents, overseeing assignments, managing workflows, facilitating client/counsel communications, and addressing team needs
- Supports the Senior Project Manager in monitoring project progress to ensure delivery of work products within established timeframes, budget estimates, and quality standards
- Performs Quality Control (QC) checks on assigned projects to maintain accuracy and compliance
- Demonstrates proficiency in managing and collaborating with team members to foster an effective team environment
- May perform other duties as assigned by management
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Proficiency in managing and collaborating with people in a team environment
- Experience using review platforms such as Relativity, Reveal, and Documetrix to conduct searches, code documents, and manage analytics
- Knowledge of syntax categories to prepare accurate search terms based on subject matter requirements
- Experience in participating in and managing a wide range of document review projects across industries and case types
- Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills to analyse data, format reports, and prepare client-ready deliverables
- Experience supervising multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining consistency in quality and timelines
- Ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively with stakeholders at different levels
- Familiarity with document review applications, with hands-on expertise in Relativity preferred
- Experience interfacing with end clients, including corporations and outside counsel, to clarify scope and address review requirements
- Experience with Windows operating systems (OS) and virtual machine environments in the context of review platforms such as Relativity and Xerox
- Technical acumen with a demonstrated ability to learn new tools and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with electronic discovery (eDiscovery) and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) to collaborate effectively with technical and legal teams
- Experience working with cross-functional technical and legal teams, preferred
- Experience in reviewing personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) data breaches to support compliance and remediation efforts
- Experience independently managing projects from initiation through delivery to meet client expectations
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Management, or Statistics with 4–8 years of eDiscovery or litigation support experience
- Minimum of 7 years of eDiscovery or litigation support experience preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of project management experience preferred
- Availability to work more than 40 hours per week when required
