The White-Collar Litigation Paralegal Project Assistant will handle all aspects of large-scale, complex litigation and investigations within

the Government Investigations and White-Collar practice group and be responsible for collaborating on various matters with attorneys and other paralegals. This role will provide day-to-day support to partners and associates in the Birmingham office, including the practice group leader.

 

Essential Job Functions:     


Serving as the administrative face of the GIWCD practice
Providing direct support to the practice group leader, keeping track of pending GIWCD matters, task status, and communicating with clients, witnesses, and other counsel
Perform a full range of paralegal tasks from case inception through case closure.
Monitor court docket sheets for assigned cases.
Review discovery and investigative material.
In-person trial preparation and attendance.
Drafting and preparing criminal and civil documents for service and e-filing, primarily in federal court.
Coordinating, organizing, and managing large-scale document collection and production.
Coordinating with vendors and Litigation Support regarding all aspects of eDiscovery, including managing electronic documents and coordinating printing of documents.
Running electronic searches for specified information or documents in public sources, court dockets, and via Westlaw.
Preparing document production letters, collection logs, and custodian logs.


 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work successfully with multiple team members, interacting with employees at all levels of the organization, court personnel, prosecutors, and clients.
Competent to handle a variety of activities with attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow through and follow up, and adapt quickly to meet changing deadlines and priorities.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Candidate would also ideally have experience with document review platforms like Relativity and with Google platforms and file-sharing systems.
Retain a high level of flexibility and resourceful problem-solving.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.


 

Educational and Experience Requirements:


2-5 years of law firm or government experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or experience as a federal courtroom deputy preferred
High School Diploma required
Paralegal Certificate preferred


 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:


In an office position with flexibility
Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
Normal office environment; no unusual physical demands.
