GEICO is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Paralegal, Litigation in the Enterprise Litigation and Investigations division of GEICO’s Corporate Legal Department.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exemplary organization, discretion, and reliability, able to deliver high-quality support in a fast-moving environment. The candidate must be able to consistently maintain accuracy and professionalism while efficiently adapting to shifting priorities and proactively supporting complex litigation and investigations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain litigation files from inception to resolution
Conduct legal research and identify relevant laws, regulations, statutes, and court options
Review, organize, and analyze evidence
Maintain and monitor calendars for key deadlines and court dates
Identify and collect documents for production requests
Perform research and analysis of courts and jurisdictions, including trends
Review deposition transcripts and draft summaries
Prepare for mediation by creating event timelines, compiling supporting documents, and preparing file summaries
Organize and label documents and exhibits for use in legal proceedings, hearings, and trials
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5 - 7 years’ experience in a paralegal role supporting litigation in a law firm or in-house legal department (required)
Experience with any e-Discovery platform
Experience with matter management systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office® applications (e.g., Word®, Excel®, Outlook®, PowerPoint®)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Location: Hybrid - This position is a Hybrid role and will require 3 days working onsite in our Chevy Chase, MD office.
Annual Salary
$92,250.00 - $144,525.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
