Evolver is looking for an NSS Linux Systems Administration to support a government program. This role is based in Springfield, VA and requires 5 days a week onsite.

 

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Linux systems operating within high-side / classified environments, ensuring operational stability, performance, and compliance with federal security requirements.
  • Perform secure system configuration, patching, and hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs, NIST standards, and agency security policies.
  • Manage system lifecycle operations, including provisioning, configuration management, updates, and decommissioning of Linux servers in classified networks.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, storage, and resource utilization across secure infrastructure environments.
  • Implement automated system administration scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system outages, configuration issues, and security incidents affecting high-side systems.
  • Support secure integration of Linux platforms with identity management, access control, and network security infrastructure.
  • Maintain secure backup and recovery processes to ensure continuity of operations in classified environments.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • 5 years of hands-on Linux systems administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, or equivalent).
  • 3 years of experience performing secure system configuration, patching, and STIG hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53, and agency security policies.
  • 3 years of experience administering systems within high-side or classified environments, including adherence to federal security and compliance requirements.
  • 3 years of experience with system provisioning, configuration management, and lifecycle maintenance for Linux servers.
  • 3 years of experience troubleshooting system outages, performance issues, configuration errors, and security-related incidents.
  • 3 years of experience with shell scripting or automation tools (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.) to improve operational efficiency.
  • 3 years of experience identity management, access control, and secure integration with enterprise authentication and security services.
  • 3 years of experience with secure backup, recovery processes, and continuity-of-operations procedures.
  • Ability to work onsite in Springfield, VA, five days per week.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Linux certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, Security+, Linux+, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in DoD, Intelligence Community, or other federal classified environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise with automation and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).
  • Experience administering virtualized or containerized environments (VMware, KVM, Docker, Podman).
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust security principles, IC security controls, and continuous monitoring frameworks.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, secure protocols, and troubleshooting within segmented or restricted networks.
  • Experience supporting identity and access management solutions (LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD, IPA).
  • Proficiency with log analysis and monitoring tools (Splunk, ELK/Elastic Stack, Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus).
  • Experience participating in or supporting incident response, security audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Strong documentation skills and experience generating system configuration, security compliance, and operational runbooks.
