Primary Purpose

The Network Administrator is responsible for administering, maintaining, upgrading, securing, and troubleshooting the district’s core infrastructure. This includes on-premises and cloud environments, backup and disaster recovery operations, and the administration of identity and access controls across Active Directory and Microsoft 365. 

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree or demonstrable equivalent

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience with network configuration and troubleshootingFamiliar with Microsoft File and Print share operationsFamiliar with Veeam Backup and Replication or comparable backup solutions

Working knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi administration

Proficiency with Microsoft Azure/Entra

Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy

Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, Teams, Purview)

Experience managing Windows Server 2016/2019/2022

Experience developing and executing disaster recovery plans

Strong understanding of system availability and disaster recovery

 

Experience:

Minimum of three years technical support experience

Technical support experience in Texas Public Schools preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Configure and maintain Veeam Backup and Replication for disaster recovery and business continuity.

System 5 backup.

Administer and maintain on-premises virtualization infrastructure using VMware vSphere/ESXi.

Support and optimize Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SMTP Relay, Teams, user account and license management, email security (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access policies, and compliance features such as retention policies and Purview eDiscovery.

Manage Microsoft Azure/Entra services, including identity integration with Entra ID, role-based access control (RBAC), Azure AD Connect, SAML single sign-on, and security groups.

Monitor and maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.

Administer Windows Server infrastructure (2016/2019/2022), including performance tuning, filesystem and permission management, troubleshooting services, SCOM monitoring, and role/service configuration.

Monitor system health using System Center Configuration Manager.

Document system configurations and maintain operational procedures.

Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for escalated incidents.

Work with District and campus techs on troubleshooting issues.

Assist peers in troubleshooting when needed.

Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, and act independently of direct supervision.

Maintain accurate documentation of user configurations, application versions, and other significant areas of responsibility.

Identify, analyze, and report research findings to promote the improvement of District technology.

Promote a departmental culture of customer service through frequent communication, positive relationships, and prompt support.
