Description
Robert Michael Communications, Inc. is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Security & Infrastructure Administrator to lead the day-to-day configuration, security, and operational integrity of our Microsoft 365 environment. This is a hands-on role focuses on identity protection, tenant hardening, and enforcing security best practices across Microsoft cloud services.
In this position, you will serve as the internal owner of Microsoft 365 security and platform configuration, working closely with IT leadership as well as external partners, including managed service providers (MSPs) and vendors.
Robert Michael Communications (RMC) is an administrative services organization providing shared support to an independent medical education company and three full-service medical communications agencies.This is a hybrid position requiring regular on-site presence at our corporate office in Voorhees, NJ, supporting the Information Technology Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Microsoft 365 Identity & Access Management
Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including:
-Conditional Access policies
-Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enforcement
-Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
-Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
-Guest and B2B access governance
Manage identity lifecycle processes, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and access reviews
Microsoft 365 Security Administration
Configure, manage, and monitor:
-Microsoft Defender for Office 365
-Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (administrative level)
-Secure Score and remediation initiatives
Maintain and optimize:
-Anti-phishing, anti-spam, Safe Links, and Safe Attachments policies
-Security alerting and incident response workflows
Serve as the first-line responder for Microsoft 365 security incidents
Tenant Configuration & Governance
Administer and secure:
-Exchange Online (mail flow, retention, and security)
-SharePoint Online and OneDrive security configurations
-Microsoft Teams administration and security policies
Implement and maintain:
-Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies
-Retention labels and retention policies
-eDiscovery (Standard) processes
Endpoint & Device Management
Manage device compliance and security using Microsoft Intune
Enforce device encryption, Conditional Access, and compliance policies
Support secure device onboarding and offboarding processes
Operational Security & Compliance Support
Support internal and external audits (e.g., HIPAA, ISO, SOC)
Assist with security questionnaires and vendor risk assessments
Ensure technical enforcement of documented security policies
Maintain security documentation and configuration standards
Automation & Continuous Improvement
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate Microsoft 365 administration
Identify and implement improvements to security posture and operational efficiency
Stay current with Microsoft security features, best practices, and roadmap updates
Requirements
5+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 environments
Strong expertise in:
-Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
-Conditional Access and MFA
-Microsoft Defender security suite
Proven experience securing Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
Working knowledge of Microsoft Intune and endpoint security management
Experience supporting security audits and compliance initiatives
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft certifications (one or more strongly preferred):
MS-102, SC-300, SC-400, SC-200, SC-401, AZ-500, AZ-900
Experience with PowerShell automation
Familiarity with ISO 27001 and Zero Trust security principles
Experience in a co-managed IT or MSP-supported environment
Additional Responsibilities
Train employees on devices, software access (local and remote), and basic network usage
Install and troubleshoot peripherals, accessories, and software
Follow departmental procedures and proactively communicate when deviations are necessary
Collaborate with system administrators and network support teams to maintain and optimize infrastructure
Independently analyze and resolve technical issues
Provide cross-functional support within the IT department as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science or a related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience;
or 3β5 years of related experience and/or training.
