Job Description:
Purpose of Position
To provide technical expertise, advice and recommendations, and support for legal processes and enforcement actions, assisting legal counsel and stakeholders in navigating regulatory requirements and ensuring capable advancement of litigation matters as well as ensuring all procedural and operational matters are executed.
Key Responsibilities
Acts as an expert technical resource for litigation files, including establishing and maintaining enforcement files, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and resolving process-related issues.
Provides assistance to legal counsel in drafting correspondence, legal documents, pleadings, and news releases for enforcement actions and regulatory proceedings.
Monitors and ensures compliance with legal timelines and regulatory requirements, updating databases and generating status reports as needed.
Prepares reports, presentations, and other materials related to enforcement activities and legal matters.
Collaborates with relevant authorities and stakeholders to obtain necessary documentation and information for enforcement actions.
Independently reviews file documentation for completeness and prepares high quality disclosure packages, consistent with legal and professional standards, and leveraging available tools and technologies.
Ensures the timely service and filing of litigation materials in a manner that complies with the relevant statutes and procedural requirements.
Researches, including through the use of legal databases, collects and reviews information and makes recommendations.
Monitors and reviews applications and records related to enforcement activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. Provides technical and operational support to the legal team, including managing budgets, coordinating contracts, and tracking file expenditures.
Develops and maintains organized filing systems and databases, ensuring efficient retrieval of information and documents.
Identifies opportunities for process improvements and assists in the development and implementation of solutions and efficiency measures.
Serves as a point of contact for inquiries from the public, applicants, courts, tribunals, internal and other stakeholders regarding legal processes and enforcement actions.
Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and facilitate collaboration on enforcement files and projects.
Collaborates with communications and outreach teams to develop educational materials and resources for stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent skills and experience.
7 years of experience in applying technical knowledge of legal processes and procedures in litigation, particularly in a regulatory environment.
Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, including litigation and enforcement protocols.
Knowledge and Skills
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office Applications.
Demonstrated experience using and maintaining electronic document management systems.
Proficiency in e-discovery tools and platforms.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to evaluate complex issues and propose practical solutions.
Proficiency in research and information gathering, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
