Our Litigation Practice Group has an excellent opportunity for a Litigation Paralegal in the Atlanta office. Our ideal candidate has experience supporting attorneys by performing routine and advanced litigation tasks in a high-volume, complex, and fast-paced practice. This non-exempt position will support litigation attorneys in the Atlanta office but may also work with attorneys throughout the firm on a variety of matters and cases.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys through all phases of litigation, including case inception, discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.
- Draft, revise, and file pleadings, motions, subpoenas, notices, and other litigation-related documents for attorney review.
- Manage and maintain case files, including organizing documents, correspondence, exhibits, and evidence.
- Coordinate electronic and traditional filings in state and federal courts and ensure compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines.
- Assist with written discovery, including preparing responses, managing document productions, and organizing discovery materials.
- Conduct factual investigations, legal research, and background searches using internal and external resources.
- Review, analyze, summarize, and organize medical records, employment records, financial records, contracts, and other case-related documents.
- Prepare deposition summaries, chronologies, witness files, and trial notebooks.
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, witnesses, court personnel, experts, vendors, and opposing counsel regarding case-related matters.
- Assist in trial preparation, including managing exhibits, preparing witness materials, coordinating logistics, and providing trial support.
- Monitor litigation deadlines and maintain attorney calendars to ensure timely completion of all case requirements.
- Support alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including mediations and arbitrations.
- Other duties as requested and assigned.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in a law firm.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or Paralegal Certificate at a minimum; equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for education requirement
- Experience supporting complex commercial litigation, labor and employment litigation, healthcare litigation, or other sophisticated litigation matters preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court procedures, e-filing systems, and litigation workflows.
- Experience managing large document collections and electronic discovery (eDiscovery) projects.
- High proficiency in grammar, proofreading, and legal document preparation.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with litigation technology and related software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Relativity, Opus, OnCue/Trial Director, document management systems, litigation support platforms, and time-entry software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information and use good judgment while prioritizing needs of the clients and the firm
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
