Position Summary:

Avis Budget Group is seeking a talented and motivated Litigation Counsel to join our dynamic in-house legal team at our Parsippany, NJ headquarters. This is a unique opportunity for a high-performing litigator to gain valuable in-house experience while managing complex, high-stakes litigation and pre-litigation matters in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials (Top 50 law school), a background in litigation at a reputable law firm, comfort with legal technology tools, and a passion for strategic problem-solving. This position requires five days per week on-site presence in Parsippany, NJ.

What you’ll do:

• Manage and oversee a portfolio of litigation matters, including consumer, commercial, class action, personal injury, employment, and regulatory disputes.
• Partner with outside counsel on strategy, budgeting, discovery, and resolution efforts.
• Conduct internal investigations and coordinate with internal stakeholders on litigation risk and response.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders, compliance, HR, risk, and operations to proactively identify and mitigate legal risks.
• Review and improve internal processes and policies to reduce litigation exposure.
• Provide practical legal advice in connection with business initiatives and escalated customer or employee disputes.
• Assist with discovery responses, document preservation and collection, and subpoena responses.
• Prepare and deliver updates and reports to senior legal and business leadership.

You should apply if you bring:

• J.D. from a Top 50 U.S. law school.
• Eligible for in-house counsel license in New Jersey.
• 2–4 years of litigation experience at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department, and prior clerkship experience a plus.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong business judgment and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Demonstrated proficiency with legal technology tools such as matter management systems, eDiscovery platforms, and document review tools.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

Work Environment:

• Location: Parsippany, NJ headquarters
• Schedule: Full-time, in-office, Monday through Friday

The annual starting salary for this position is between $140,000 - $165,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
