Summary of the role:

The Legal Specialist, Technology and Data Analysis, will support, administer and configure legal technology tools that drive operational excellence, efficiency, automation, innovation, and data-informed decision-making across the Greater Legal team. The role will blend technical capabilities, project management, and data collection and analysis with a strong understanding of legal workflows to ensure that tools and processes are optimized.

The Legal Specialist must have hands-on experience administering, supporting, configuring, and implementing core and emerging legal technologies (contract lifecycle management, e-billing, matter management, e-discovery, AI for legal), as well as formal technology project management capabilities and experience working directly with legal professionals.

About the role:

  • Configure and maintain legal technology and legal AI solutions (e.g., CLM, e-billing, matter management, e-discovery, building document and workflow automation systems).

  • Design, build, or support legal playbooks, processes, templates, forms, and workflows.

  • Develop and maintain Greater Legal’s departmental performance metrics dashboards.

  • Support development of Greater Legal’s training courses and materials, including serving as the technology subject matter expert (SME) for e-learning and AI-driven learning platforms.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for legal technology tools and systems.

  • Serve as a system administrator or power user for key platforms, managing user permissions, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with vendors and IT as needed.

  • Ensure ongoing maintenance, updates, and optimization of systems.

  • Serve as primary project manager for all Greater Legal team technology projects, in collaboration with Enterprise IT.

  • Document configurations, standards, and change management processes.

  • Collaborate with Greater Legal team colleagues to identify and address legal technology needs and find best-in-class solutions.

  • Train users in the use of tools and provide basic end-user support.

  • Stay informed of emerging trends in legal technology, automation, AI, and digital transformation.

  • Proactively suggest improvements to processes and tools that support operational excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Lead or support the design, implementation, and maintenance of AI-based and automated solutions to enhance legal workflows.

  • Coordinate AI and other technology product demos, pilots, and training sessions to facilitate the adoption of AI and automation solutions.

  • Work with legal teams and other stakeholders across different geographies and time zones.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a computer related field from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technology in the legal industry, such as a law firm, legal operations consulting firm, ALSP, or in-house legal department.

  • Proficiency with legal technology platforms, including contract lifecycle management (Ironclad experience preferred), e-billing and matter management, and e-discovery tools.

  • Experience with process automation, light coding, and workflow design.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications, including Power Apps and Power BI.

  • Proficiency with leading enterprise AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Studio.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging legal AI tools.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, written and verbal communication skills with critical thinking.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders is required.

  • Self-starter and continuous learner with a growth mindset who is excited about technology innovation in the legal industry.
