Our Legal Informatics Team

The Legal Informatics team at Gilbert + Tobin specialises in the application of technology to complex and time critical legal matters. Our work enables the handling of large volumes of electronic evidence in disputes and investigations, enabling efficient due diligence in high-profile deals and navigating bespoke datasets. Our expert application of market-leading technologies enables a scalable and secure approach to every legal matter, giving our clients a strategic advantage.

 

About the role

We are currently seeking a Legal Informatics Manager to lead the delivery of electronic discovery, document management, data room, data analytics and associated legal technology services to the lawyers and clients of the firm. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the day-to-day delivery of large scale and complex document reviews in Relativity, including data imports, auditing, analytics and modelling, preparation of evidence and data exports;
  • Managing eDiscovery processing workflows, including data collection and transfers, preparing and manipulating data, processing, quality control and issue resolution;
  • Leading the use of the Relativity aiR suite and other AI-assisted review tools, including workflow design, validation and quality assurance;
  • Designing, establishing and improving Legal Informatics best practice workflows for large scale document reviews, investigations and data rooms;
  • Advising legal teams on the setup and effective use of Harvey vaults and other technology-enabled legal workflows;
  • Leading technical support for Court/Commissions/Inquiries as required and coordinating delivery across Legal Informatics team members;
  • Managing due diligence AI tools, virtual data rooms and deal rooms, including allocation of work, quality control and stakeholder communication; and
  • Identifying opportunities to improve delivery through data analysis, scripting, automation, integrations and repeatable workflows.

 

About you

As our successful candidate you should be able to demonstrate the ability to lead high profile and technically challenging discovery, regulatory and transactional matters. You should combine strong technical capability with sound judgement, clear stakeholder communication and the ability to supervise and develop others. You will play an important role in developing the firm’s Legal Informatics capabilities and ensuring matters are delivered efficiently, defensibly and to a consistently high standard. In addition, you will have:

  • Substantial experience working on large scale and complex eDiscovery or legal technology matters
  • A strong understanding of the eDiscovery process, defensible workflows, quality control and legal matter requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead matters end to end in accordance with the standard EDRM model
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving, project management and communication skills
  • Experience supervising technical staff, allocating work and reviewing outputs
  • The ability to scope work, manage competing priorities and deliver against agreed timeframes and budgets

Other preferred skills and certifications include:

  • Holding a Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) qualification or equivalent advanced Relativity experience
  • Experience designing and implementing Relativity Dynamic Objects and advanced workflows
  • Experience using and managing Relativity Integration Points and other integrations
  • Strong use of JIRA and Confluence for project and knowledge management
  • Command-line and PowerShell interfacing
  • SQL scripting and data analysis
  • Familiarity with deployment of cloud infrastructure
  • Python scripting and workflow automation
  • Experience with Relativity application development, APIs or other integration frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure on time critical matters.
