What you will be doing  

The Lead Legal Operations Specialist, eDiscovery  plays a key role in developing best practices on eDiscovery processes and support the Vice President of Litigation in the successful delivery of eDiscovery services, which include the administration of the legal hold lifecycle, the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, and provide recommendations for cost efficient solutions for case-specific projects.  

The position is based out of our work site location in Boise, ID, with an in-office requirement for four days and one flex day of work. 
 

Main responsibilities:

  • Meaningfully contribute to the design, implementation, and execution of eDiscovery templates, policies, strategies, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization, including Legal, IT, and Information Security, to develop world-class and cutting-edge solutions to eDiscovery matters.
  • Oversee legal hold process from issuance to release, including conducting custodial interviews and coordinating data disposition for all closed cases.
  • Manage the process to identify custodians and preserve and collect Electronic Stored Information ("ESI") from storage repositories in response to discovery requests.
  • Work with outside counsel in the preparation of pleadings, protective orders, ESI Protocols, and other pleadings related to the management of the eDiscovery process.
  • Lead crossfunctional collaboration with Legal teams, IT, Information Security, Regulatory/Compliance, business stakeholders, outside counsel, and eDiscovery vendors to ensure alignment on eDiscovery requirements, workflows, and strategic needs.
  • Prepare budget forecasts related to eDiscovery spend report and reporting eDiscovery costs through eBilling software
  • Train legal and business partners in early case assessment and emerging technology tools.
  • Incorporate Ai into our document collection and management, including determining what tools to use, licensing costs, deployment decision-making and create implement training to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluate, learn and implement eDiscovery program tools (e.g., Relativity) that improve project efficiency, optimize document review workflows, and expand reporting and analytics capabilities.  Obtain program certifications, as needed.
  • Leads contract negotiations with eDiscovery providers to offer value and cost savings to the business. 

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • 5+ years of e‑discovery, litigation support, and/or legal technology experience (aligned with industry norms for project manager/manager‑level roles).
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or paralegal studies certificate required from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited program, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong litigation background and knowledge of discovery across the EDRM Model
  • Significant experience in defense litigation, including primary responsibility for a database or one or more significant areas of the law
  • High level of proficiency with technology, including Litigation Support Applications (e.g., Relativity platform, Intella, or other hosting technologies), Legal Hold applications (e.g., Fusion, DISCO, Reveal, AccessData, Zapproved), eBilling applications (e.g., LegalTracker), Pacer, Westlaw, and other internet research tools
  • Significant project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple and diverse legal projects
  • Great intellectual curiosity and a desire to invest time and energy into learning and growing as a subject matter expert in eDiscovery
  • Ability to learn and understand complex technology and data related concepts, effectively discuss those concepts with technically skilled individuals, and apply that knowledge and understanding to discovery and legal strategies
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Comfortable using, and learning how to use, legal technology and databases
  • Proven ability to work well with others and to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to produce significant output with minimal wasted effort
  • Plans, organizes, and schedules in an efficient, productive manner; focuses on key priorities; manages time well
  • Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic
