Location:  Minneapolis

Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Housing Unit as a Paralegal/Investigator. This is a unique opportunity to combine legal case support with hands-on investigative work that directly impacts housing stability in our community.

The MMLA Housing unit helps renters maintain safe and stable housing. We provide direct representation to low-income tenants in eviction cases, subsidized housing terminations, and health and safety litigation. We work to protect renters from discrimination and landlord harassment. We also help tenants secure emergency repairs, prevent unlawful lockouts, and seek emergency assistance. As our team’s paralegal/investigator, you will be part of this essential work to keep people safe and secure in their homes. You will conduct a range of litigation support, including filing documents with the courts, assisting attorneys with trial- and appeals- preparation, and individual case management.

What’s in It for You?

We believe in work-life harmony. This role offers the flexibility to blend remote work with in-office collaboration.
On Fridays, the office closes at noon and employees enjoy a half-day of paid flex time.
MMLA provides on-the-job training and mentorship, with opportunities for growth within the organization.
This role offers hands-on experience in litigation, investigation, and tenant advocacy, making it an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals interested in law, public service, or housing justice.

Why MMLA?

We’re not just ticking boxes. We’re genuinely committed to diversity. Bring your unique identity, experiences, and perspectives—we want them all!
Our mission? Equal justice for all. In your cover letter, tell us how your background can amplify this cause. Let’s change lives together.
Discrimination and harassment have no place here. We’re building a respectful, supportive workplace where everyone thrives.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are core values for Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, and it is critical that we incorporate these values into all aspects of our work. We recognize the particular and highly detrimental impact of racism — and of Minnesota’s racial disparities — on MMLA’s clients and staff. We, therefore, devote special attention to issues of racial justice.
This role blends legal case support with hands-on investigation work, offering a unique opportunity to directly support tenants and strengthen housing stability in our community.
