The Opportunity:


The Law Clerk II position is a unique role which affords the law clerk the opportunity to become a niche expert by conducting complex legal research and performing deep dive substantive document reviews on assigned investigations and cases. 

This role works closely with the Division Leadership to act as initial point of contact for employment related inquiries. Law Clerk will review and analyze evidence and make recommendations to further the investigations, assist with drafting motions, memorandums, and briefs.

This is a position with high level of visibility and often interact with the attorneys to prepare for interviews, depositions, and trial.

Responsibilities


The Law Clerk responds to initial requests by employees seeking assistance and guidance on various employment law topics. Performs complex legal research; prepare draft legal documents (motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.)   

The Law Clerk performs the following tasks:

  • Receives and Analyzes Employees’ Concerns/Explores Potential Resolution: Listens to employees' concerns about perceived unfairness, improprieties, or systemic problems within the Division.
  • Identifies and analyzes legal issues
  • Provides Information and Guidance/Facilitates Communication: Provides information and guidance to help employees understand applicable federal laws and regulations, Department Orders, and Division policies and procedures, and offers guidance on appropriate referrals or resources. Serves as a liaison between employees, groups, and Division elements to improve communication and coordinate processes
  • Reasonable Accommodation: Serves as first point of contact for employees and orchestrates resolution regarding reasonable accommodations
  • Identifies Systemic Issues/Provides Feedback: Identifies patterns and trends in complaints, as well as review and analysis of legal requirements, that may point to larger organizational or policy problems
  • Conducts interviews of witnesses, records the facts and prepares reports for management to make decisions on disciplinary actions resulting from harassment and other matters.


Qualifications

Required: 

  • Must have law degree. Must have at least two to three years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. 
  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required).

Pay Range:

This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI’s government contract for the work location.
 

Minimum Required Hourly Wage:

$46.90
