Supporting the management of litigation matters throughout the case lifecycle. Reporting to the Assistant Territorial Legal Director/In-House Counsel, this position assists with lawsuits, mediations, agency complaints, arbitration proceedings, subpoenas, discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.

The Junior Litigation Paralegal will maintain accurate and confidential case files; organize pleadings, correspondence, exhibits, and other legal records; track court deadlines and calendars; review incoming legal documents; and assist with the preparation of court, discovery, and trial materials under attorney supervision. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 


 The role also supports legal research, document collection and e-discovery activities, subpoena responses, outside counsel coordination, and litigation budget and invoice tracking.


 


This position serves as a liaison to internal divisions and departments seeking litigation-related information and provides junior litigation paralegal support to the Adult Rehabilitation Center Command (ARCC) for non-legacy legal matters. Responsibilities include reviewing and processing subpoenas received by ARC locations and ARCC, coordinating information needed for responses, and escalating matters requiring attorney direction.


 


The ideal candidate has strong legal research, writing, records-management, technology, and communication skills; exercises sound judgment; and can manage multiple confidential matters and competing deadlines with accuracy, professionalism, and limited supervision.


 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.

Ability to manipulate numbers and perform routine computations.

Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations.

Must be able to travel.

Working Conditions:

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOUAn associate degree in paralegal studies or related field,

AND

 

Two years of experience as a paralegal or in a legal office, preferably with exposure to estate and trust administration,

AND

Must have a high level of proficiency with writing, technology, including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, electronic filing, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other internet research tools. A thorough understanding of the discovery process, including ESI collection, processing, and management, and the ability to handle multiple caseloads with competing deadlines are required.

Certifications

Paralegal Certification from an ABA-accredited school

Valid State Driver’s License

Notary Public preferred
