Summary of Position: Blach Construction is seeking a versatile and proactive IT Project Specialist to join our collaborative and agile IT team. This hybrid role blends hands-on IT project management with first- and second-level technical support, Microsoft Exchange administration, and business systems support. The ideal candidate will be energized by working across multiple functional areas—including Construction Operations, HR, Finance, and Preconstruction—while helping to implement technical solutions and provide outstanding user support. The role requires strong organizational skills, service orientation, and the ability to manage both structured projects and urgent day-to-day needs. This position is part of a small but growing IT team that values flexibility, cross-training, and Blach’s core values of Quality, Transparency, Teamwork, and Respect.


Typical Duties:

  • Project Implementation (≈50 %)
    • Lead or coordinate technology projects across construction, finance, HR, safety, and jobsite support.
    • Perform requirements gathering, scope definition, risk identification, scheduling, budgeting, vendor coordination, UAT, and go-live execution.
    • Maintain project documentation and provide regular status updates to IT leadership and stakeholders.
    • Deliver end-user training, SOPs, and support transition plans.
    • Document any common ongoing technical support and maintenance
    • SSO and SCIM configuration experience
    • API Integrations
  • Help Desk & End‑User Support (≈30 %)
    • Provide Tier 1–2 technical support for a Windows/Office 365 environment, desktop setup, Zoom, and SaaS platforms; manage incidents through Freshdesk with adherence to SLAs.
    • Cloud File Server administration and management (Egnyte)
    • Troubleshoot issues, ensure timely resolution, and continuously improve service quality.
    • Follow escalation protocols for unresolved incidents and participate in rotating support coverage as needed.
    • Printer fleet management (troubleshooting, setup, and move requests)
    • Onboarding and Offboarding
  • Microsoft Exchange / M365 Administration (≈15 %)
    • Manage Microsoft Exchange Online: mailbox provisioning, distribution lists, retention policies, spam/phishing protections, and admin portal settings.
    • Support and maintain related platforms such as Exclaimer email signature service and Exchange hygiene tools.
    • Assist with Microsoft 365 tenant policy enforcement and security posture improvements.
    • Microsoft Purview eDiscovery for mailbox backup
    • Azure Active Directory/EntraID for user management and app registrations
  • Technical Interface & Systems Support (≈5 %)
    • Serve as a liaison between business teams and IT to translate operational needs into technical tasks.
    • Provide systems and administrative support for platforms including CMiC, Egnyte, ManageEngine, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Verkada, and Palo Alto Networks.
    • Experience with Power Apps for data visualization and analysis
    • Maintain internal knowledge base content and participate in IT documentation and SOP development.


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Education & Certifications – Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred). CompTIA A+ or Network+ required; ITIL v4 or PMP/CAPM, or Agile/Scrum certification is a plus.
  • Experience – 1-3 years in a hybrid IT project and support role. Proven ability to manage projects and support services in a mid-sized company environment (150–500 users).
  • Technical Skills – Proficient with Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online administration. Familiar with Windows OS, Active Directory, basic networking, SaaS management, and mobile device support. Prior experience with construction-industry platforms (CMiC, Autodesk Construction Cloud) and experience supporting ERP, HRIS, or Project Management systems is highly desirable. Knowledge of ITIL concepts (Incident, Change, and Problem Management) and Exposure to IT security standards and vendor compliance practices are recommended.
  • Soft Skills – Strong communicator, detail-oriented, organized, and motivated by helping others. Ability to multitask and maintain professionalism in a dynamic and high-touch environment.
  • Work Environment – Based primarily in our San Jose HQ, with occasional remote work or travel to SoCal operations or vendor sites. Business hours are Monday–Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Success Measures in First 12 Months:

  • Project Execution – Successfully lead at least two medium-scale IT initiatives, completed on time and within scope, with strong end-user adoption.
    Operational Support – Maintain high levels of incident response (≥90% SLA compliance); reduce average time-to-resolution.
  • Knowledge Documentation – Develop and maintain at least 10 key SOPs and knowledge base entries that enhance team readiness.
  • Exchange & M365 Improvements – Implement and support Exchange Online updates, spam/phish controls, and M365 security features to improve mail-flow efficiency and reduce incidents.


Location: Northern California, Bay Area (This position does not include a relocation stipend) — primarily on-site with occasional travel or remote support for Southern California operations


Position Status: Full-time, regular business hours, non-exempt
