SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Enterprise Engineer I supports the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365 and related enterprise platforms. This role focuses on operating core services, assisting with security and compliance initiatives, and contributing to automation efforts that enhance workforce productivity.



Responsibilities

  • Operate Microsoft 365 E5: maintain Exchange Online (mail flow rules, encryption, anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-malware, retention, archiving, eDiscovery), Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Entra ID identity policies (MFA, Conditional Access).
  • Support security and compliance hygiene: assist with DLP, Defender, and Purview policies; participate in periodic audits and reviews; contribute to policy improvements.
  • Execute and support automation: run existing PowerShell scripts for provisioning, reporting, and monitoring; assist in modifying scripts under guidance; support Power Automate workflows.
  • Handle incidents and requests: create and update ServiceNow tickets, investigate issues using knowledge bases and logs, and escalate to senior engineers, Microsoft, or vendors as needed.
  • Contribute to documentation: capture troubleshooting steps, update KB articles, and assist in maintaining runbooks and operational documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support changes and ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Communicate status updates, issues, and resolutions clearly to stakeholders and team members.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of IT experience or equivalent technical education with exposure to Microsoft 365 administration and systems fundamentals.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft 365 admin portals and services.
  • Basic PowerShell skills; ability to run and begin modifying scripts with supervision.
  • Understanding of identity and security concepts including MFA, Conditional Access, DLP, and Defender.
  • Strong troubleshooting, customer service, and communication skills.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Copilot, Power BI, Power Automate, and API integrations.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, CloudAlly, LastPass, Mimecast, or ShareGate.
  • Exposure to vendor support processes and escalation handling.
  • Interest in automation, scripting, and continuous improvement.
