We are looking for a DLP Purview Engineer who is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions using Microsoft Purview. This role ensures that sensitive data is identified, classified, protected, and monitored across the organization’s cloud and on-premises environments. The engineer works closely with cybersecurity, compliance, information governance, and IT operations teams to align technical controls with regulatory and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. DLP Design & Implementation
· Architect, configure, and maintain Microsoft Purview DLP policies across M365 workloads (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Endpoint).
· Implement data classification, sensitivity labels, and label policies using Purview Information Protection.
· Create custom data classifiers (e.g., regex patterns, keyword dictionaries) as needed.
2. Data Governance & Compliance
· Translate regulatory and internal compliance requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, ISO 27001, etc.) into actionable DLP and data-protection policies.
· Work with Legal, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure policies align with governance frameworks.
· Maintain documentation for audits, risk assessments, and governance reporting.
3. Optimization & Continuous Improvement
· Conduct periodic tuning of DLP rules to reduce false positives and optimize performance.
· Assess emerging Purview capabilities and recommend enhancements to the DLP program.
· Develop automation (PowerShell, Purview APIs) to streamline DLP operations and reporting.
5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
· Work with business units to understand data flows and apply appropriate protection controls.
· Provide security guidance for new applications, integrations, and migration projects.
· Deliver user training and awareness for data-protection best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
· Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview DLP and Information Protection solutions.
· Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 workloads and related security features.
· Experience with:
Sensitivity labels & label policies
Data classification & content inspection
Endpoint DLP
PowerShell scripting
Azure AD / Entra ID
· Knowledge of network, endpoint, and cloud security principles.
Professional Experience
· 3+ years of Prior experience implementing and handling Microsoft Purview DLP solutions

· Comfortable working cross-functionally across IT, security, and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
· Microsoft certifications (SC-400: Information Protection Administrator, SC-200, AZ-500).
· Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government).
· Familiarity with broader Purview features: Data Lifecycle Management, Records Management, eDiscovery.
