About the Role 

The Director of Information Technology & Systems serves as the sole IT authority for KSS Immersion Schools.  Reporting directly to the CEO, with additional supervision from the Head of School of Pine Street School. This role owns the full spectrum of technology operations across all campuses:  infrastructure, endpoint management, identity and access, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and strategic systems planning. The Director is based on-site in New York City and conducts periodic visits to Bay Area campuses to deliver hands-on support and ensure consistent technology standards across  every school. 


Responsibilities 

Infrastructure & Network Operations 

• Manage and maintain network infrastructure across all school campuses, including Wi-Fi, switching, and  VPN access 

• Administer UniFi networking environments; configure and maintain WireGuard VPN and related remote  access systems 

• Oversee server resources, cloud hosting, and on-premise hardware lifecycles 

• Research and evaluate hardware upgrades, including 10GbE networking and high-performance endpoint  configurations 

• Maintain and renew vendor contracts, software licenses, and technology service agreements 

Endpoint & Device Management 

• Administer Microsoft Intune and Entra ID for device enrollment, compliance policy enforcement, and  conditional access 

• Manage BitLocker encryption deployment and key escrow across all managed Windows endpoints

• Deploy and administer JAMF for Apple device management (MDM), including configuration profiles, app  deployment, and compliance enforcement across macOS and iOS endpoints 

• Manage secure browsing standards across the organization using Google Workspace content controls  and JAMF Safe Browser, ensuring consistent policy enforcement on all managed devices • Support macOS environments across all campuses 

• Coordinate device procurement, imaging, provisioning, and lifecycle retirement 

• Administer IT helpdesk and ticket management systems; track, prioritize, and resolve support requests  across all campuses 

• Deploy and maintain presentation equipment including auditorium, classroom, and conference room AV  solutions 

Google Workspace Administration 

• Serve as super administrator for KSS Google Workspace, including user provisioning, group  management, and organizational unit configuration 

• Manage Google Vault for legal holds, eDiscovery, and email retention compliance • Administer Shared Drive access controls and conduct periodic audits using GAMADV-XTD3 • Configure Gmail routing, sender delegation, and compliance policies across all organizational domains 

Cybersecurity & Incident Response 

• Lead security incident response, including containment, forensic log analysis, and executive-level  reporting 

• Monitor for Business Email Compromise (BEC), phishing, and account takeover activity; implement  preventive controls 

• Conduct post-incident reviews and produce formal incident documentation for leadership and legal use • Evaluate and implement multi-factor authentication, phishing-resistant login policies, and social  engineering awareness programs 

Systems & Application Administration 

• Manage organizational email, calendar, and collaboration platforms for all campuses • Oversee third-party SaaS integrations and vendor accounts, including telecommunications (Verizon) and  productivity tools 

• Support AI-powered systems and automation initiatives, including school admissions tooling and  administrative workflow automation 

• Maintain internal documentation for IT systems, procedures, and configurations 

Executive & Cross-Functional Support 

• Serve as primary IT resource for the CEO and school leadership team; translate technical decisions into  clear executive communications 

• Coordinate technology needs across organizational separations, mergers, and compliance transitions • Collaborate with Finance and Operations on vendor contracts, cost management, and technology  budgeting 

• Provide escalation support for all school sites; conduct scheduled and emergency on-site visits as  needed 

Working Conditions 

This position is based on-site in New York City (Pine Street School, and Battery Park Montessori). The role also requires periodic travel  to school campuses in the San Francisco Bay Area (Berkeley, Montclair, Walnut Creek, Lincoln Highlands).  Travel frequency varies based on operational needs and may be required for network upgrades,  incident response, or scheduled maintenance windows. Standard working hours apply with occasional off-hours availability expected for critical incidents. This role requires the ability to work independently without on-site  supervision and to manage time effectively across multiple locations and time zones.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of IT experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR 5 years of equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of Apple hardware, software, and operating systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Apple ACMT certification
  • Experience with JAMF or other MDM systems
  • Background in mass device deployment and management
  • Hands-on experience repairing Apple products
  • Familiarity with preschool, elementary, or middle school environments
  • Ability to resolve network-related issues
