Director, Employee Relations
Overview
Mastercard is seeking an experienced Employee Relations professional to join the Global Employee Relations team. In this role, you will partner closely with People Business Partners, Employment Law, Compliance, and business leaders to deliver consistent, compliant employee relations practices aligned with Mastercard values and applicable laws.
The Role
• Serve as a key resource to research to apply a deep understanding of employment laws and employee relations best practices to interpret, develop, implement and maintain global ER policies, procedures and guidance that promote a safe, inclusive and legally compliant workplace.
• Conduct fair, timely investigations into alleged policy and/or legal violations, including claims of discrimination, harassment and workplace policy violations; ensure consistent case handling and documentation through resolution across different regions. Reach equitable conclusions and recommend appropriate correction action to support our culture and mitigate risk.
• Liaise with and support Legal on privileged investigations and discovery requests, support e-discovery and Electronically Stored Information searches for claims, attorney letters, and agency charges.
• Develop and deliver training to educate employees and people leaders on employee relations topics and compliance obligations, at times partnering with Legal as well.
• Support execution of key ER initiatives and workstreams, ensuring timelines, dependencies, and deliverables are effectively managed.
• Consult on employment screening processes, including background checks, in alignment with policy and local requirements.
• Support internal and external audits, reviews, and inquiries by compiling required information and maintaining thorough employee relations documentation.
• Partner on the project management of key employee relations strategic workforce initiatives.
• Manage compliance with required notices, deadlines, and postings; maintain record-keeping standards in accordance with local requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying themes and helping to enhance employee relations processes, controls, and operating rhythms.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and discretion; safeguard sensitive and confidential information; and act in a manner that protects employee trust and Mastercard’s reputation.
All About You
• 6+ years of experience in Employee Relations, Human Resources, HR Compliance, or a related function; an advanced degree (e.g., master’s) and/or legal background with employment law experience is preferred
• Deep understanding of applicable federal and state employment laws and agency processes and ability to interpret/understand global laws and processes.
• Experience advising on a broad range of employee relations matters, including hiring, performance management, disciplinary processes, reorganizations, and workplace dispute.
• Experience supporting or leading projects/workstreams in a cross-functional environment
• Strong data orientation, with experience auditing, validating, and analyzing case or compliance data
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and deliver results in a fast-paced, global, matrixed environment.
• Proficiency with case management systems (e.g., HR Acuity), Microsoft Excel, and e-discovery tools.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
