Overview

The Data Analyst / Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reporting dashboards that convert complex datasets into actionable insights for organizational stakeholders. This role will translate organizational reporting needs into data models and visual dashboards, primarily within Power BI. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in data modeling and Power BI with strong analytical and communication skills. They will work closely with data teams, business partners, and leadership to ensure reporting solutions are accurate, intuitive, and aligned with strategic objectives. This role will help build out scalable reporting frameworks connected to the data warehouse and other internal systems, enabling leadership to make informed, data-driven decisions through clear and actionable visual insights.

Responsibilities

· Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

· Build and optimize dashboards to extract, transform, and load data from multiple internal systems and the enterprise data warehouse (EDW) into analytics-ready structures.

· Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure data models align with organizational goals, business expectations, and performance metrics.

· Develop and manage data models (tabular, star schema) that support efficient Power BI reporting and data exploration.

· Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through validation, quality checks, and proactive monitoring of internal data sources.

· Integrate data from cloud and on-prem systems (e.g., SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, O365, APIs) into unified reporting datasets.

· Leverage DAX, SQL, and Power Query (M) to design advanced calculations, measures, and transformations that support analytical requirements.

· Drive data visualization, ensuring dashboards are user-friendly, visually consistent, and tailored to executive-level decision-making.

· Collaborate in iterative development cycles, managing sprints, feedback loops, and prioritization of reporting enhancements.

· Proactively identify process improvement opportunities in data pipelines, automation, and reporting workflows.

Qualifications

Technical Expertise

· 5+ years of hands-on experience with one or more business intelligence platforms. Power BI (preferred), DOMO, and/or Tableau — including data modeling, dashboard/report development, and DAX/ETL workflows.

· 5+ years of experience designing and building ETL pipelines and data integrations from diverse source systems to data warehouses or front-end BI tools.

· Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with proficiency in SQL development, data transformations, and performance optimization for analytics workloads.

· Experience working with Microsoft O365 / Azure ecosystem and related data tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Power Automate, SharePoint data sources).

· Solid understanding of data modeling techniques, data warehousing concepts (EDW), and metadata management.

· Hands-on ability to translate business logic into technical specifications and implement it in ETL/ELT workflows, DAX measures, SQL queries, Python scripts, or similar domain-specific languages.

· Exposure to data governance, data quality, and security best practices in analytics environments.

· Familiarity with API integrations or automation tools for data ingestion.

Analytical & Business Skills

· Ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., business users, back-end engineers, data architects) to interpret requirements, define KPIs, and align technical solutions to business goals.

· Strong understanding of business processes, enabling translation of organizational needs into data-driven solutions.

· Experience developing data visualizations that communicate insights clearly and drive decision-making.

Project & Communication Skills

· Proven project management experience with data-centric initiatives, including planning, coordination, and execution across multiple teams and timelines.

· Ability to communicate and explain data logic, ETL workflows, and business implications clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

· Experience working with cloud data platforms (Azure SQL, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, or Google BigQuery).

· Familiarity with Python, R, or other scripting languages for data transformation or analytics automation.

· Exposure to data cataloging, metadata management, or data lineage tools.

· Background in data-driven project leadership.
